22oz bomber poured into a snifter. Been sitting in my fridge for a few months now, time to give it a try.

A- Pours very cola-like, dark brown with slight light seen through around the top and bottom of the glass. About a half finger of head fades to a film along the top. Nice sticky lacing along the sides of the glass.

S- Smells of dark fruits and maybe even some coffee to me. An odd smell for what I was expecting.

T- The initial sip brings some chocolate and coffee notes, followed by an overall malty presence before leading to some hop bitterness. Interesting stuff.

M- Medium to heavy, nicely carbonated, bitter yet malty, dry finish.

This was an interesting one. Good stuff but I probably wouldn't buy it again.

From notes. Poured into a snifter from a bomber

A Pours a deep brown topped off with a thin off white head.

S A bit of smoke, some sweet chocolate and alcohol. Also some faint pine hops.

T Booze, smoke, chocolate, and an unpleasant metallic note which really hurt the taste for me.

M Pretty thick which works well with this one.

Overall this is a bit of an unimpressive boozy mess fresh. I think that with a bit of time it might turn out to be a nice complex sipper though.

#BOTG 56!

A collaboration between Seattle legendary beer store "Bottleworks" and Stone. Cool! This just showed up in Houston recently, so I'm guessing its pretty fresh. Poured from bottle into my CBS snifter (managed to jam the entire bomber in there!). Pours a pretty much pitch black color. It doesn't seem too thick, and has some really nice creamy head that sticks to the sides of the glass and hangs out on top of the beer. Nice, esp given the ABV of this beer. Smell- oohh nice. coffee wafts into my nostrils, as does some citrus hoppy aroma, along with like a chocolate biscuit. Taste- geez. Super aggressive and muddled hoppiness. Almost a salty coffee finish. There is so much going on with this beer, and its kind of all over the place. I guess I expected that, given the crazy amount of different and competing malt and hop profiles used. I keep getting an almost plastic/metallic flavor somewhere mid palate. It's not terribly detracting, and may just be an effect of the mash up of the components. This does have a nice creaminess to it that I really enjoy. Overall, this is a little bit of a mess, but its decent.

Stone Bottleworks 13th Anniversary

A- pour produces a 1-1/2 finger light mocha colored head resting on a deep brown colored body. Good lacing a decent retention 4

S- chocolate malt, molasses, brown sugar, light coffee scent, bitter and earthy hop scent, a little alcohol, faintly smokey.  3.5

T- earthy, slightly smokey, mocha, light coffee, woody, ripe dark fruits, and slightly hoppy slight alchohol but well hidden given the abv. I was hoping for a but more hop taste given the 13 hops varities used but if I would have known that I would just think it is a very good, very malt forward beer with good hop flavor in the background. A very enjoyable sipper. 4

M- medium carbonation and body. Good mouthfeel, typical of Stone. 4

O- woody, smokey, earthy, warming. Wish it was released in the winter because it's a great winter beer instead of a warm memorial day weekend. Still very good though. 4

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head that has decent retention and leaves some light lacing on the glass. The aroma is light roast, some coffee, earthy hops and a strange plastic note. The taste has a light sweetness with some roastyiness, some coffee, earthy hops, and the same strange plastic note. A bit of alcohol on the finish as well as some light bitterness and a bit of astringency. Medium-light body. Medium carbonation. Strange beer. Disappointing.

Chalky dark brown appearance with a thick mocha colored head. Aroma is full of roasted malts and molasses; sweet, nutty and creamy nose. Rich malt and sour brown sugar kick on the first sip. Predominantly malty and medium-sized body with hints of milk chocolate, bitter chocolate and dark fruits. Nutty, sour, sweet mouthfeel. Not absurdly impressive but a good brew nonetheless.
