Brewed by:
Stone Brewing
California, United States

Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 10.80%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
We first released this decidedly indelicate beer in 2012, as Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our belovedly bitter Stone Ruination IPA. Stone RuinTen IPA uses the same recklessly hoppy recipe as the 2012 release; only the name has changed, as we plan to unleash this belligerently delicious hop monster upon the public annually from now on. We packed a whopping five pounds of hops into each barrel, and cranked up the ABV to stand up to the hop onslaught. The results are glorious, and we know you'll rejoice in tasting this audacious gem of hoppy splendor once again. You're welcome.

Appearance: a nice strong golden orange color. small white foamy head when it arrived that faded slowly and left a strong lacing. good brightness and clarity to it.

Smell: huge bitter hop aromas. lots of tropical fruit, mainly papaya, strong citrus, lots of bitter hop resin. some mild sweetness comes through after you get through all the hoppiness. faint whiff of alcohol

Taste: opens up with a short burst of sweetness, somewhat honey-like. quickly overtaken by huge amount of hops and all the associated bitterness. flashes of papaya, pine, citrus, and resin. backend is full of a somewhat booziness

Mouthfeel: silky and creamy but with a huge amount of bitterness. linger bitterness is certainly there along with a good punch of alcohol and alcohol heat.

Overall: a super tasty IIPA. great malt base and amazing hop taste and character. If you're looking for something bitter and delicious, this is it.

Brass colored with excellent clarity. A quarter inch of eggshell white head rests on top. Light Brussels lacing. Pungent aroma of citrus hops smell of mango and pineapple. The taste is extremely bitter with intense citrus and tropical hops. Vegetal tasting hops dominate the front and the back of the palate. There's substantial light malt in there, but this is clearly a hop bomb. The mouth is thick, somewhat syrupy, and carbonated.
