On tap at Congregation Ale House in Pasadena, CA.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, fruity aroma, wine, and wood. Taste is much the same with a mild funky finish. There is a mild hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

On tap at The Pittsford Pub in Pittsford, NY.

This one pours a murky pink-ish orange, with a small head, and a good amount of lacing.

This one smells like red wine, dark fruit, wood, Belgian yeast, and some mild hops.

This is a really interesting beer- hard to figure out. It was listed on the menu as white wine barrel aged, but after tasting how tannic it was, I talked to the Stone rep and confirmed that it was indeed red wine BA. The red wine comes through pretty strongly, with some nice wine-soaked fruit flavors, some apricot and pineapple, some clovey bitterness, ad some oak. There's definitely a lot going on here, which is cool.

This is medium bodied, with a high level of carbonation, and a crisp, slightly juicy mouthfeel.

A really interesting beer, and another curveball from Stone. It's cool to see them do something well that's not a hop bomb.

Had a couple pours of this tonight at Bier Thirty... Stone Tap Takeover!! This is one of the brews that I wanted to try the most that Stone brought in for the event.

Pours a slightly hazy dark golden.. nice head.

Nose is phenolic and a bit oaky... some pink bubblegum and a nice smack of oak... some lemony hoppiness seems to get lost in the fray.

Flavor has a quite heavy vinous note ... but almost an astringent oakiness too... the oak seems a bit much IMHO.. the base brew is still there showing a good citrus/pineapple hoppiness... and the Belgian notes are alive and well... but for me, the wood and wine seem a bit abrasive.

All and all.. This did not live up to my lofty expectations.. but is still damn good... I may go back to Bown tomorrow just to get a 2nd opinion!

Thanks again Chris and Kammy!! Picture perfect event.
