Notes / Commercial Description:
The IPA That Launched Generations of Hop Fanatics
First Release: August 1997

By definition, an India pale ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale aleā€”and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well-respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy, piney hop flavors and aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

Poured from a 650 ml bottle into a standard pint.

A: Medium golden hue. Pretty heavy carbonation clings to the sides of the glass. Pours about a 2 finger, foamy, white head. Settles very slowly leaving plenty of sticky residue behind and nice little craters and peaks. Lots of spider web lacing remains as you drink.

S: Very piny, a little yeast, and a bit of a floral note.

T: Lightly malted and very hoppy.

M: Light but full. Hops assault the palette and linger throughout the experience. Steely aftertaste.

D: The hop bite will dictate sippage on this one.

Atmosphere is pretty great. Appearance is rich and golden with a giant foamy head that just won't quit. Plenty of persistent sticky lacing. Nose is not complex, but full and floral. Flavor, again, not complex, but full-on hop assault. Overall, this is a really good quaff.
