A: Opaque black in color with a nice two finger tan head at the top, left a good amount of lacing around the glass as you drank this one.

S: Up front strong coffee notes with slight hints of vanilla and dark fruits that are very present as well.

T: Nice roasty ness throughout, hints of coffee and caramel on the tongue, and a good amount of dark fruit is present as you drink this one, the hops give this a nice bitterness as well.

M:Full bodied and mid level carbonation a nice warmth from the booze.

O: This is a great beer, very well balanced and enjoyable for a nice cool night, this beer left a nice warmth in the belly.

Poured from the bomber into a very large snifter.

A; The beer was a nearly pure black with no light coming through. Head was pure tan, foamy, 2 fingers, and stuck around a couple of minutes before settling down to a light froth on top of the beer. Minimal lacing.

S: Of course there is a definite roasty note all throughout. Baker's chocolate and a light mocha character throughout. A very RIS aroma that brings out everything expected, but with a particular coffee punch.

T: Very mocha tasting, with the taste of a nicely made coffee drink. Very roasty with a hint of bittersweet chocolate in there. Cafe au lait. Some sweetness in there as well - light fruit and some cordial, like some chocolate covered cherry filled with liqueur. Excellent.

Overall a really good RIS. I think the standard Stone RIS has an edge over this for drinkability reason, but in terms of roasty character and "bigness" this one comes out on top. A very smooth and flavorful beer that is very very gigantic, this is definitely worth the taste, the money, and the experience. However, for more normal drinking, the other is good.
