Last bottle consumed 3/1/16. Black pour with a bit of beige foam. Roasty nose carrying a bit of coffee. Taste is big coffee with roasty malt on second. Heavy mouthfeel with average carbonation. Will miss this one.

Pours black with a nice mocha head. Aroma is roasty, tons of bold espresso, cut by some chocolate and maybe anise? Flavor is big and roasty too, lots of espresso, as it warms the chocolate comes out, and something else that again I can't pinpoint, maybe anise? Some alcohol is present. A fuller mouthfeel. Overall, a really nice espresso stout. Would definitely drink again.

A-Poured into my Stone IRS glass-it pours nearly pitch black with a mocha head that leaves some nice cascading and slight lacing

S-Boozy, espresso, dark chocolate

T-Sweet from the alcohol, espresso, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and a hint of oak. The espresso comes through more as it warms up. I was really surprised at how sweet it was.

M-Fairly thick and creamy

D-The espresso cuts into its drinkability for me but I think i could finish an entire bomber.

Overall, I was glad I was able to try this beer since the regular IRS is one of my all time favorites. However, I prefer the regular version. The espresso was nice but I think the regular version is just more balanced and tastes better.

22oz : Teku

Black, with a foamy, light brown head.

Rich, fudgey cocoa upfront, with roasted coffee notes in the backing and a lightly bitter finish. When considering the ABV, there are very light, if any, alcohol notes.

Medium+ body, lightly viscous, but smooth.mild foamy carbonation.

Regular IRS is certainly a solid, quintessential Imperial Stout. The espresso addition is just that, an addition. The base beer is still the focal point, with the espresso adding just a slight, extra layer to what is already a great beer.

The thing about Raul is, is when it comes to Stone, Raul usually bats an eye and saves it for another day. Stone, less than 100 miles away from his house, save it for another time, right? Well, Raul wishes that he drank this bad sucker when he first bought it two week ago, rather than leaving it in the fridge!

Silky textures like a Kardashian after a hot wax, and tasty like Jessica Alba after leaving Burke Williams. I mean, this guy is rollin on all 4 cylinders like the members of Primal Scream doing a line of molly before shooting speed and killing light. This is excellence.

Peace!

22oz into a snifter. Pours pitch black w/ a 1-finger crackling tan head that recedes quickly to a thin collar.

Aroma is rich chocolate and bitter espresso, dark roasted malt. Great balance of aromas.

Taste is roasty and bitter in several ways. Strong coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted malt converge to make something better and more flavorful than the sum of its parts. A touch of black molasses too.

Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and slick with a nice bitter finish.

Overall a great twist on one of my favorite imperial stouts. The espresso gives it a little extra special something without affecting the base beer.

a: black as night. one finger mocha colored head which subsides fairly quickly leaving good lacing behind

s: hint of booze followed by dark chocolate & roasted (slightly burnt) coffee

t: Bitter (charred) espresso powers its way through from the start. And continues on giving way only near the end by allowing some dark chocolate to come through. Finishes with one last charred/burnt burst of espresso.

m: full body. silky, smooth & creamy.

o: I enjoyed this but I think the coffee/espresso flavor is a touch too charred/burnt. Very drinkable but the alcohol sneaks up on you. Any coffee beer enthusiast should definitely give this a try (decent comparative value too).
