Strong bold IPA just like you would expect from Stone. Great aroma - hops hops hops! The barrel notes are subtle compared to everything else. Love these guys and this is solid.

500ml bottle into snifter.
A: Pours golden wit a cap of greasy bright white frothy head that faded into a thick and greasy film. A complex network of sticky lacing was left down the glass.
S: Soapy smelling with notes of shampoo and faded ruination and hops. Smells like old homebrew. Dirty and earthy overall, without much bourbon.
T: Potent and boozy flavors of very mild whisky and c-hops. Pine and faded citrus are noticeable. The beer is no longer bitter, nor boozy, but it's also a bit astringent. Tastes like muted hops with a hint of bourbon.
M: Greasy medium-full body, sharp, low carbonation, smooth and slightly astringent and bitter.
O: Despite the above this was better then I expected, but it's not something that I would drink again.

Had a 22 oz glass on tap at San Diego Airport. Good color, 1.5" head, great lacing. One thing I always worry about beer aged in bourbon barrels is that the whiskey flavor overrules everything. Not so with Ruination IPA. Fantastic flavor, with caramel and citrus overtones and the back end is the bourbon, but not overpowering. Overall 4.5/5.
