Clear light copper in color. Served with a minimal white head. Little retention. No lacing. Aroma is a blend if fruity and vinous qualities. Light sweetness and some very mild floral notes. Taste is similar, but the differences are more pronounced. Light sweetness. Moderate tartness. Quite Vinous with some foxy grapes. Light to medium body. Slight tartness. Low bitterness. A very interesting take on the Belgian IPA

Served in a pint glass at the Daily Growler in Columbus, OH. Appears a good amber color, with minimal head. The head disappears quickly, and leaves no lacing to speak of.

The nose is fairly muted, but all over the place, as expected. There is a good caramel sweetness, notes of Belgian yeast, wine, and just a bit of citrus. The taste is also very complex. There is sweetness from the malts, as well as notes of the wine barrels up front. The Belgian yeast then comes through, and the wine barrels still stick out. The finish has the bitterness that is to be expected, but it's unlike any other finish I've ever experienced. The complexity is wonderful, but I'm not sure that the combination of everything really works all that well...

The mouthfeel is very smooth, heavy, and finishes in an overly sticky way. Overall, this is a very complex brew, but just doesn't quite do it for me. The wine that is accentuated throughout detracts from the other characteristics. Definitely interesting, but not great.

Enjoyed from a growler via Jungle Jim's in a snifter glass. This nice Belgian IPA pours a nice clear orange with a moderate head of foam that dissipates to a light layer and moderate ring of foam with spotty lacing. Nose of Belgian candy sugar, moderate amounts of citrus fruits---mandarin oranges, light grapefruit, and pineapple, as well as a dash of very floral and funky yeast mixed with some bittering hops. Flavors follow the nose with mild candy sugars, tart stone fruits, and funky yeast flavors to the rear meld with a wine barrel note adding to a sizable Flemish quality . Moderately dry finish, with a subtle sweetness that fades to a tart aftertaste. Good for the style, muddled between a hash of good brews that are nice on their own, but not outstanding for the style.

This is a blend of 1/3 Stone Cali-Belgique IPA, 1/3 Stone Belgian Pale Ale aged in white wine barrels and 1/3 Stone LeVariation Ale (Stone Levitation Ale fermented with same yeast used for Stone Cali-Belgique), aged in red wine barrels and dry-hopped with East Kent Golding hops.

Draft at Winking Lizard, Bedford Heights,OH, served in Stone Mixtape Vol. 5 glass. Clear, amber with slight head. Vinous, slightly tart. Not as hop-forward as expected -- a Belgian IPA that's more "Belgian" than IPA. Fairly complex, but easy drinking.

Did you ever try to siphon gas and got a little in your mouth? That's what this beer tastes like. I hated it before it even got to my mouth. It has a weird wine aftertaste that sticks in your sinuses and won't go away.
This is my first review, and I hate to be so negative. I encourage one and all to try this beer and enter your own review. Tell me if I'm wrong.
Sorry Stone Brewery - love most of your beers. This was a strikeout.
