Was lucky enough to get this on tap at the common market yesterday. Served in a Southern Tier goblet.

Appearance - The beer retained a good inch of head in the goblet. The body was about typical for an imperial stout. Very dark but you could pick up some brownish hues towards the light. The head had a really nice vibrant colour to it for the style.

Smell - Great smell, lots going on in the beer but you are able to pick up on the pecans which added a sort of caramel nuttiness.

Taste - This beer has some booziness to it but it would be hard to knock a 13% beer, especially when other flavours come out. Immediate roasted malts and other standard flavours for an imperial stout and as they are settling in you get a great caramel finish from the pecans which pleasantly lingers on the tongue. Very well executed.

Mouthfeel - The mouthfeel on the beer was fantastic and I think the rich flavours of the pecans work very well with the heavy body prevalent in this imperial stout. Extremely smooth mouthfeel which adds some drinkability to such a heavy high alcohol beer.

Overall - I would certainly have another w00tstout in the right circumstance. A great imperial stout with good chocolate/coffee flavours that are enhanced by the addition of pecans, which bring caramel/toffee notes to compliment. If I found myself with another glass in my lifetime, I'd consider myself fortunate.

Cheers!

Its funny...this beer is literally everything it says it is. You taste it and its like "oh thats barrel aged, but not that strong." Mmhm, yep. "There's some nuttiness to it as well." Mmhm, yep. "Also, there's a really nice dark bread quality that lingers on the back end." Well, ya don't say. Its just a really nice change of pace, where you can wrap your head around every aspect of what is actually involved in the stout. Well done. Incredibly balanced.

Ebony with a 1/2" tan head, which slowly fades. Light lacing.

Aroma is nutty, with notes of chocolate, molasses, coffee, rye.

Taste is njuts, chocolate, molasses, coffee,m oak, vanilla, a rye spiciness.

Full body, thick & oily, light carbonation. Semisweet finish.

Outstanding Imperial Stout. I expect nothing less from Stone.

This w00tstout creation is Farking great! I grab it whenever I see it. Sometimes at the 'Stone Brewing' in Escondido location, as I make it out often during my annual West Coast beer pilgrimages. It is sweet as hell (not cloying) so I don't even know how this one works for me. But it does. Pecans and Wheat are involved, but I guess that I just love a dark, burnt, toasted and roasted RIS. I cellar the stuff and don't drink it much after purchase. I keep many bottles going back five or more years now. I like drinking it warm. They are great! My wife is a red wine drinker and just loves this beer too. It must be the sweetness.

Grabbed bottle at Thirsty Pug.
Typical dense black appearance with hints of ruby red and dark mahogany to light.
Rich fruity malty nose; winey dark fruit hints of nuts.
Taste mirrors but has an unpleasant bitter aftertaste.
Feel is a nice modest smoothness, but alcohol intrudes and adds a burn.
Overall, ok but not anything I’d try again.

Look: dark dark brown/black
Smell: sweet, malty, toasty, black licorice
Taste: dark stonefruit, toasted malt, brown bread , sweetness of the bourbon barrel come through, finishes with a hint of pecan that morphs into a richer nuttiness
Feel: fill bodied but not crazy heavy
Overall: I really like this! The pecan is nice and subtle as opposed to some beers making it gimmicky so I really enjoy how they implemented it here. A really nice stout

Bottled 6/9/21

This is a weird concept for a beer, which makes me surprised that it's from Stone. A blended imperial stout with pecans, wheat, and rye. It's something that sounds like it doesn't make sense, yet something I'm eager to try. I love pecans in any capacity, so I'm wondering how well they'll come through in an imperial stout. Let's find out

Pours mostly pitch black with 2 fingers of tan head that fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing

The pecan is definitely there in the nose, but it's very soft, almost like a raw pecan as opposed to the toasted character I expected. I'm picking up on aromas of milk chocolate, raw pecan, raisin, earthy bourbon, rye spice, and dark caramel malt

Yeah, the toasted pecan vibe I was expecting comes across much more in the taste, offering an interesting bitterness on the finish. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting spicy rye, milk chocolate, acidic coffee, burnt oak, and light bourbon. The swallow brings notes of spicy rye, astringent toasted pecan, cocoa powder, earthy bourbon, roasty coffee, and burnt oak

A medium full body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a surprisingly thin beer. Finishes roasty and a bit bitter

This one is an oddball, but it's pretty good for what it is. Not exactly what I hoped for with a pecan beer, but a fun drink

Look: Poured looking like strong black coffee wi a nice tan head that melted to a 3/16" ring around the glass. Nice lace not the sides with cuffs of foam that side slowly downward to join with the ring.
Smell and Taste: Bourbon and Pecans with note of coffee thrown in.
Feel: A very refreshing dryness to this semisweet Stout.
Overall: This Stout rocks. All boxes have been checked. Time to find some more.
