Look: Pours black with a thin, dark-brown head that quickly dissipates. Limited visible carbonation and thick alcohol legs on the sides of the glass.

Smell: Very, very sweet but not cloying. Pecan, wood (from the barrel), brown sugar, and very mild alcohol esters all evident.

Taste: Follows the nose but even more so. Sweet pecans and malt form the first notes with mild black coffee, molasses, and plum following. Thick but not syrupy in the mouth that finishes much crisper than many other stouts like it.

So glad I finally managed to grab this beer, for $10 pint an absolutely excellent value for an absolutely excellent beer.

This is a thick farking stout. That is what I expected and exactly what I got.

It's the usual oil can black I expect. The aroma is sweet and pretty. The taste is big and sweet. The aftertaste is more of a case about alcoholism than anything. Huge.

I will stop at the stop to look for more. W00t.

Look- It's very dark in space! No head. Alcohol slides around rim of the glass. Scary and inviting.
Smell- bourbon, carmel, light molasses, alcohol, no noticeable roast in the smell to me. No vanilla or pecan. Smells clean though nothing funky or off putting.
Taste- bourbon up front with the alcohol present but not hot. Surprising as it is the 2017 so it is fresh out of the barrel. I don't taste any nuttiness but I rarely do in beers even when they are added. I'd like to taste more but I think I would need to age it a bit. Maybe I'll pick up another.
Mouthfeel- soft on the pallet with little carbonation. It avoids being syrupy and is easy drinking for a new beer with a 13% ABV.
Overall- I love Stone Brewing and Will Wheaton. I will go back to again for one to age and when the next of the series comes out. Brew on Wil!!

Pours a pitch black with minimal tan head. Smells of pecans, bourbon, chocolate, roasted malts, and mild coffee. Flavor follows the nose almost exactly with very prominent pecan pie. Medium-high body with low carbonation. Overall it's an absolutely incredible barrel aged stout. I would put it up there with some of the best I've had.

Perfectly opaque with a teensy tiny head the colour of wet sand.

Flavors are sweet and alcoholic and has some lingering cherries. It's very smooth and not harsh at all.

Very good.

Pours black. Dense, short brown head fades to a ring.

Smells caramel and roast malt, dark fruit, light oak, bourbon and molasses hint.

Tastes roast malt, dark chocolate, light dark fruit and bourbon. Followed by light oak, dark fruit and molasses. Finish is dry with roast linger and light earthy bitterness. Full body and creamy medium carbonation.

Glossy black body under a massive light brown head that pulled back to only slight remnants of lacing. Nose is massive sweet molasses coupled with a slight weird funk, somewhere between vegetable thing and aging but not quite sour dairy products. Like when you see the milk expires on the day you smell it, and your imagination infers something more meat than what really exists. Finally, a solid alcohol signature appears. Taste thankfully does not identically match the nose. For instance, that sweet molasses is very much there but without the odd baggage. What creeps in is slightly nutty, and a definite heat. Body is pretty thick and finishes super dry with only a bit of sweetness left on the tongue.

1/3 pint tap pour at CASC. I believe this is the 2017 edition.

Jet black, tiny dark brown head. A massive beer. Booze, coffee, nuts and raisins on the nose and palate. Dark chocolate and cognac on the palate. Awesome but one is plenty. Cheers

2015 Edition

A: Poured into a snifter to a black beer topped by a finger of dense tan head that fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass leaving minimal lacing
S: Smells of nuts, vanilla, caramel, slight oak and some chocolate with a little coffee
T: Taste is nuts and bourbon barrel up front with the caramel, vanilla and oak with some boozy alcohol. Chocolate and coffee come in as well in a nice combo with some nice roasty notes as well as some spicy flavors from the rye addition. Surprising amount of barrel character with hints of molasses as well. Swallow is vanilla, caramel, nuts and oak with some alcohol and lingering chocolate syrup on the finish
M: Surprisingly thin for the style and the ABV. Smooth with soft carbonation. As it sits on the palate it begins to thicken as some carbonation is lost. The beer has a drying finish as well from the ABV.
O: Overall this is a really nice beer with some killer flavors and complexity. They definitely made this one right and it has aged well. The amount of barrel flavor on this one is surprising since only a quarter of it spent time in barrels. I'd say this is one to try if you can find it.

Looks creamy and chewy. Dark and robust with a intensely frothy khaki head.

Smells sweet and sugary. Molasses and brown sugar. Oaky. Carmel and dark fruits. Mild bourbon. Touch of vanilla.

Tastes sweet and charred at the same time. Burnt sugar. Heavy alcohol. Raisens and prunes. Then more straight ethanol. Carmelized sugar. Toffee. Charred oak. Everclear.

Feels thick, chewy, and creamy as fuk. It's stupid filling.

Overall... Why are beers like this packaged in a bomber? I enjoy this, but I don't want 22oz of it. Heavy sigh.

Edit - my 2nd purchase of this (2017) is purely HEAVY anise, black licorice, bitter coconut, stupendously creamy, and excessively bitter of dry walnuts.
