Always thought these flavors would match well. Let's see how Stone and some homebrewers tackle it.
A- Poured from the bomber into a tulip revealing a somewhat hazy orange body, some golden around the edges. A one finger creamy, frothy white head raises up to about two fingers high. Head retention is good and a big bubbly ring is left after it dies down. Nice thick cloud of lacing around the glass.
S- Hops and coconut bouquet with a slight edge for the hops being the main scent. The coconut feels somewhat sweet and like a dessert. Hops mainly give off orange zest and citrus notes for me with some pine and floral. Slight bread and caramel.
T- First of all it all just seems a bit jumbled. The hops are big as in the aroma but I don't get much beyond some citrus zest and pine. The coconut is sort of masked by the hops and I expected a bit more after the aroma. Slight caramel and some alcohol hints.
MF- Silky moderately thick bodied with a medium level of carbonation. Sort of a bittersweet finish on the palate.
It is a good IPA with nice citrus, floral and pine flavors but the coconut gets dominated by the hops in the end. Just a bit more coconut would be nice and since coconut is in the beer's name it is hard to really be totally satisfied here. Good hop usage.

I was honestly surprised by this beer. An IPA mixed with just the right amount of alcohol. The coconut was sweet but not too sweet and it helped balanced the bitterness level of this IPA. The coconut flavor reminded me of something you would taste in Almond Joy, it's sweet but acceptable. This is a really fun beer and I recommend it. I hope they rerelease it in the future.
