On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Big white head, high retention on a crystal clear golden body. Clear and soapy sticky lacing. Aroma includes tropical fruit, mango, lemon and a hint of vanilla/coconut. Mouthfeel feels a bit thick for some reason, interesting. Easy to drink, nicely bittered and quite tasty. Background sweetness only. Nice hinting of flavors while maintaining IPA qualities.

22 oz bottle poured into a globe at fridge-cellar temperature.

L – Medium amber color with a 2-finger frothy, rocky, cream-colored head. Really nice retention with some great sheets of lacing. Clear with lots of bubbles.

S – Lots of tropical fruit hops with mango, peach, apricot, and pineapple aromas. There may possibly be a faint aroma of coconut here, but there is no way that I would pick it out if I wasn’t looking for it.

T – Starts off sweet with caramel malt and fruity hop flavors with mango, peach, apricot, grapefruit, orange, and pineapple notes. As the hop flavors develop, bitterness builds and builds all the way to the finish. Toward the finish, some dried coconut may come into play, but again there’s no way I would pick it out if I wasn’t looking. Still tasty albeit without much coconut.

F – Light-medium-bodied, good carbonation, a sticky, creamy, and chewy mouthfeel, and a bittersweet and very dry finish. Bittersweet fruity hops linger for a long time.

O – I really like this IPA. I think it’s getting so much hate on here (if you can even consider a super-3 rating hate) because of the lack of strong coconut flavors and aromas. Of course I agree with the absence of much coconut here, but I fail to understand why that can yield such a poor rating. The style is still an IPA. It was just supposed to have some coconut in it. It does have some coconut in it. It is not supposed to be coconut beer. That’s my logic anyway. It’s a tasty and drinkable beer that fits the style. Good enough for me.

Clear as a bell amber, lively carbonation, 1 finger of ecru head, plenty of sticky lacing.

Aroma is surprisingly muted and a subtle mix of hops, toasted coconut & shortbread.

Taste is hop forward with grapefruit & tangerine, and just enough of a hint of the toasted coconut to let you know it is there, shortbread cookies rounding out the flavors.Starts out a tad sweet, but the aftertaste is bitter and drying, and to me when the toasted coconut seems the most prominent (about 1 minute after the swallow).

Mouthfeel is light medium and really pleasant, perfectly carbonated.

Rock solid off center IPA that deserves higher ratings: it seems many are expecting a more intense coconut infusion, but I found it a subtle and interesting change of pace.
