Notes:
Inspired by new experimental German hops, our brewing team is celebrating our 17th Jahrestag by taking palates on an unconventional tour of Deutschland by way of Southern California. In doing so, we used a grain bill comprised exclusively of pilsner malts and German hops with crazy awesome names: Herkules, Hersbrucker, Magnum, Merkur, Opal, Smaragd & Strisselspalt. Dry-hopping with Sterling, a U.S. hop with Saaz parentage, lends a bit of familiarity, but be forewarned, this is a unique beer that takes the IPA–a style we've already pushed far beyond it's previous limits over the years–to interesting new territory.

pour from a bottle into ballast point snifter
golden color small 1/4 inch head
nice hop smell different slightly fruity hop
taste is light crisp not over bitter hops
but has little bite and slight citrus back end
overall decent beer and a great price at under $6 after tax
would consider get again

This one pours an ultra clear polished gold with a one finger bright white head. That pour is CLEAN. The nose is very clean and very hoppy, featuring loads of German hops. It smells like a super hopped pils. It drinks like one too. It's light in body and drinks über crisp. The hop level is perfect. Stone did a great job showcasing German hops. I'm a German pils fan and this beer was spectacular. The 9.5% was well restrained as well. This is the best Stone Anny since the 12th. Pick it up while its fresh!

This is an interesting take on an IPA. I was not expecting a typical west coast IPA, but must admit this is pretty bland, especially for the price. The smell is piney and there is not much nose here. The look is very nice and clear with a beautiful golden hue, the lacing is exceptional. The malt taste is indicitaive of a pilsner but with a good hop bitterness and a nice warmth from the high alcohol content. The mouth feel is a little thin for my liking. Overall it's just OK for me, its clearly a high quality brew but the flavor and nose are lacking. Glad I gave it try but overall not impressed with this one.

Hazy light amber with a one finger foamy white head. The aroma has grapefruit, herbal and grassy hops, and Pilsner malt.
Definitely has a unique flavor profile. Tastes in many ways like an IPA crossed with a Pilsner. There is Pilsner malt, bread malt, grapefruit, grassy, herbal, and spicy hops. Very nicely balanced.
Medium bodied with modest carbonation. Finishes somewhat dry. The alcohol is well hidden, and there is little to no aftertaste. I'm glad I was able to try this.
