The World Bistro and Gardens have come a long way. After a shaky start a couple of years ago, the food and service have seen great improvment and get better with each visit. The beer (Stone and guest selections) has always been excellent, and the food has evolved to become a worthy match. The Bistro is very modern and stylish, definitely a few notches up from most brewpubs and beer-themed places. The view into the giant Stone brewery is awesome. The huge gardens in back are beautiful and a nice place to enjoy some of the best beers made in the USA.

Wasn't what I was expecting. Not your typical local brewery. Felt like I was in Temecula wine tasting. Nice place nonetheless. Had a Mikkeller on tap and citrusy wit. Good service and decent vibe, if it's your crowd.

The place itself is one of the most beautiful breweries you can go to. Big open hanger doors, even bigger garden with water features, picnic areas, the whole shebang. Gets extremely crowded and difficult to move through the restaurant, and takes some time to order or receive food or drinks occasionally. Nice company store and tasting room. Parking can be miserable too, unless you go valet. Every beer lover should visit this place at least once if possible though. Cheers!

My trip here was fun, interesting, and too short. I finally found the the brewery, after google sent me to the packaging plant. BTW the Brewery/ Bar is next door. Guess the founder does not care for signs, at least that is what was told to us on the brewery tour. The brewery tour was informative and not much to see. Got to sample 4 beers afterwards, a nice plus, if you ask me. I took a flight at the bar and tried some offering that I cannot get at a local store. I order some food. Now the reason for the lower score on the food is the price point to just a tad high for the quantity of food. I do realize I was in North San Diego and everything is high. But a couple bucks cheaper would have made more sense, at least to me. (I work in and around the food industry and have for almost 20 years). I felt what I got was between an appetizer and entree. The food was good and inventive. The server put crime and punishment hot sauce on the counter, that did add a nice accompaniment to meal. Overall my experience was positive. I will go back, may not for something to eat, but the beer, for sure.

In an industry full of complete characters, Stone Brewing may well be the most complete and the most full.

My opinion was proven upon visiting their Escondido location (the one on San Diego Bay had not opened, nor, of course, the slow-food gastro-pub in Marienpark Berlin due this summer.) I visited on a Saturday night, so the place was jam-packed and the brewhouse closed. (So how did I get a table and a plant tour? I was the guest of their San Diego distributor, cousin to my wife... she knows the rich and powerful.)

This is an amazing facility; nestled into a suburban rolling hill industrial park, you somehow felt like you were in a beer amusement park; complete with falling water, restaurants and retail stores (no ponies for the kids.) The Vibe and excitement and enjoyment was like no bar I've ever been. Because most everything was on tap, I had a flight of five. Because I had a slight cold, I drank it all myself and didn't drive.

For a brewery whose most outrageous product line was led by an Arrogant Bastard (so ornery that it had to be spun off as a separate corporation), the restaurant's service was relatively good. The menu had strains of the slow-food movement, but burgers were the main fare.

I am amazed on Stone's entrepreneurial flare and passion for its product.
I hope their gastro-pub is open in Berlin when I visit there this coming July.

We just visited their place in Escondido a couple weeks ago and, overall, it was a very good experience. Loved the architecture of the building and the design of the gardens. Obviously superb brews and the food was very good too. Service was decent, but not outstanding. I would have given the Vibe a 4.75 or 5, except for the 2 areas of old vomit we encountered in the gardens...one of which was on a rock which my wife accidently leaned against. Yeah...not cool.

This place is amazing. I'm not a huge fan of Stone's beers, don't hate them just think they are good to try and move on. But I was encouraged to stop here and thank god I did. It's a bit of a hike out of the city, but totally worth it. The beer garden was amazing. Lots of chairs around the grounds to chill out in, some artificial turf to lay on and have a beer. A nice pond throughout with fish, frogs and turtles. Was there on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed but still awesome. Went back on a Sunday night and it was cool with the fireplaces going and the lights on. Also, their experimental Mocha IPA was the best beer I had in San Diego (and I hit Alesmith, Toolbox, Modern Times, Port, Lost Abby, Ballast Point & Alpine).

Got there when they opened @ 11 am but there is no signage to tell you that you are in the right place. Once inside they have a nice bar and eating area where they serve excellent food to go with some excellent beer. There is also a deck area where you can eat outside. Beyond the outside eating area is a garden area. After an excellent meal and beers we spent time in the garden by the small waterfall and took in some sun while waiting for the 2 pm instead of rushing into the 12pm tour. The tour costs $5 and runs 12,2,4,6pm. We enjoyed seeing and hearing about how Stone operates and has evolved. At the the end was a sampling of four beers: Stone to go, Pale Ale 2.0, Cali-Belgique, and Smoked Porter. We got to keep the sample glass. Worth the effort to get there.
