12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Black with some edge transparency. Thin khaki ring.

Smell - Maple sweetness. Chocolate. A bit of bourbon, but not too strong. Chocolate.

Taste - Lots more whiskey. Strong whiskey flavor. Oak. Maple sweetness. Roasted malts. Coffee finish.

Mouthfeel - Roasty bitterness. Medium body.

Overall - This really grew on me. I love that maple flavor.

On tap at the Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

Pours black, deep dark black, with a small mocha colored head, about a quarter inch, and very little lacing.

Smells like maple, bourbon, chocolate, and roasted malt.

This is a fairly subtle BA job here, a little bit of bourbon flavor, not overpowering at all, with a good amount of vanilla, chocolate, and maple of course. The maple lends some sweetness to the beer, but it's not overpowering. Luckily does not become cloying.

Medium bodied, slightly thin for the style, but I guess it is a porter, after all. Creamy, smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Low carbonation, and very drinkable.

Another great BA beer from Dark Horse. The BA'ing is not quite as powerful as some of their other creations, namely BAPt5, but this is still very tasty.

snagged this in a recent swap. always a fan of dark horse and maple bourbon...? sounds good to me. had side by side with the bourbon 6 legs.

super powerful in your face barrel. the maple is glazed over big bourbon and oak, but I prefer the maple dominance in the 6 legs over this one which is just too heavy on the booze.
