2015 vintage; drank 6/26/16 @ the Yarchives.

Black/brown appearance.

A rough pour yielded a small tan head which quickly dissipated; almost no lace.

Blueberry, milk chocolate & faint smoke notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Dry oak & mild bourbon flavors up front; blueberry & milk chocolate notes on the finish.

The barrel dominates the base beer; this smelled heavenly but was just OK. The regular version is superior.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter
2017 Vintage

A- pours a deep black color with a one-finger dark brown head that has good retention and leaves a bit of lacing behind

S- initial aroma smells like a chocolate covered blueberry; dark milk chocolate, dried blueberries, raisin bran cereal & light vanilla. Bourbon barrel aroma is very light and mostly oaky, with just a hint of bourbon

T- slightly tart blueberries up front gives flavors of fresh unripe blueberries. Mid-palate brings out notes of milk chocolate and caramel. The finish brings out light barrel notes with some vanilla-oak and just a hint of barrel juice. Blueberry tartness comes back on the linger, as well as more chocolate

M- medium-light body with moderate carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and finish

O- flavor wasn't as complex as aroma & mouthfeel seems a bit thin at times, but the blueberry, chocolate, oaky caramel combination works very well together

12 ounce bottle, 2017 vintage. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both pretty good. I like the aroma, the brew smells like blueberries, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and some bourbon and vanilla. I think the taste is just like the aroma, with blueberry, roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, bourbon and vanilla flavors. With that being said, I think the bourbon character in this brew is on the light side (very light). Doesn't seem to me like this was barrel aged too long, but I could be wrong about that. Luckily I'm a big fan of the regular Tres Blueberry stout so I liked this one a lot, but I'm disappointed that there wasn't more barrel here. To me I think the blueberry flavor is the strongest, with all the other flavors still being noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's creamy and coating with a good amount of carbonation. Truthfully I prefer the regular Tres blueberry stout compared to the barrel aged version, but this one is still pretty good and definitely worth trying. $4.99 a bottle.

Appearance - Pours black with two finger tan head that dissipates within a few minutes to a thin film on top. Spotty lacing

Aroma - huge hit of blueberry combination of sweet and tart. Just a touch of oak and bourbon very subtle, reminds me of booberry cereal/

Taste - The blueberry in the taste is much more tart than sweet, bourbon is a little more pronounced along with the barrel. A touch of vanilla as well.

Feel - Medium bodied little higher carbonation than expected little heat from the alcohol.

Overall- Well done pretty even balanced on the the taste. Bourbon does not overpower.

Dark chocolatey body with a firm brown-red head!

Aroma of blueberry cereal and blueberry muffins with a background of sweet bourbon and wet oak.

Lovely blueberry notes cascade into chocolate, like a chocolate covered blueberry; bringing forth caramel and sappy bourbon with a delicate finish of oak, roasted malts, light coffee acidity, and sap/whiskey. Light crisp brownie ends.

Feel is viscous with the PERFECT, I mean PERFECT amount of carbonation and booze burn.

A total knock out. Could have easily destroyed the base beer but this multiplied its awesomeness four-fold.

Basically tastes like those dark chocolate covered blueberries from Trader Joe's. get a little barrel in the nose, less in the taste, but it's there. Delightful.

A - Pours a midnight black with a one finger tan head. Heavy amount of soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is blueberry, dark chocolate and light bourbon.

T - The taste is blueberry, dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, vanilla and light bourbon.

M - Medium body with medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with a soft dry finish.

O - The bourbon is very light and doesn't add much to the overall flavor. Still a nice stout nonetheless.
