Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 12.00%

Availability: Spring

Notes / Commercial Description:
Have you read the description for the regular Crooked Tree yet? Well this beer is almost the same just double the flavor and alcohol. We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Although this beer is as cool as "The Fonz" when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you'll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait....trust us).

Orange penny copper.
Strong citrus and boozy bite in the nose.
Sweet orange rind. Lots of sweet up front lots of bitter on the tail finish.
Syrupy mouth feel.
So smooth it's hard to tell it's 12%

Wow, I understand other people's reservations when it comes to this beer. It's mike darker than expected, higher %, and has sediment unlike most dipas. However they went about this the right way. It's heavy and delicate at the same time. Perfectly done dipa in my opinion. Other brewers take note.

This is one of the darkest DIPAs I've ever seen. Almost looks like a brown ale. Smelled super-malty with some piney notes. This tastes like an old school American Barleywine. It's boozy, malty and strong.

Would have never guessed this was near 12% off the taste. Very smooth for the ABV. Definitely a lot of burnt Carmel and hop flavor but overall a very enjoyable brew. Thanks to the guy who traded it to me!

Love this beer. Have had the Crooked Tree before but this one is way more bold. Just like in the description Dark Horse says they double up the hops and alcohol but keep the same amount of water. Smooth and not too bold of an aftertaste which is nice and refreshing when cold. Can stay in a cool dry dark place for several years and it will change in flavor. Great beer.
