Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 12.00%

Availability: Spring

Notes / Commercial Description:
Have you read the description for the regular Crooked Tree yet? Well this beer is almost the same just double the flavor and alcohol. We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Although this beer is as cool as "The Fonz" when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you'll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait....trust us).

12 oz bottle was poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a one finger head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a copper color with good clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Spotty lacing on the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Caramel, toffee, tangerine, orange, grapefruit, and boozy alcohol. 12% is hard to hide.

Taste: The hops flavors and bitterness is balanced out by the caramel and toffee sweetness. Flavor profile got better as the beer warmed up.

Mouthfeel: Really smooth, medium to full bodied, low carbonation, mild bitterness, and a little booziness. Really easy to drink too.

Overall: The fact that I can barely taste the alcohol is awesome. There beer is the equivalence of 3 domestic light beers, but hundreds of times better and was made to enjoy over the course of a tv show and some. Man, I liked this beer a lot over the years.

Appearance - opaque orange caramel color with lots of off yellow head on the pour. Little to no lacing

Smell - up front lots of citrus bitterness, but you can smell a malt build

Taste - luckily the smell leads into the taste well with this one. Bitterness right into a well balanced maltiness

Mouthfeel - this beer isn't too carbonated, but and leaves a nice bitter flavor on your tongue

Overall - what a quite surprise from a beer trade. Great beer
