I'm gonna go ahead and exercise this amendment. No...nevermind. That wouldn't be right, as this was a gift. Thanks Joe!

Please The 5th pours pitch, burnt, motor oil black with a thin tan head that completely throws in the towel.

Molasses, burnt toast, olive, brown sugar. All the makings of a fine imperial stout.

The flavor again is abundant in molasses and brown sugar. The other aromas seem to have opted out if this segment. As it warms, flat cola comes through. The alcohol is well hidden. And I mean well hidden.

Despite its sticky coating of the mouth and tongue, this beer seems surprisingly thin. Most likely due to the lack of carbonation, but in general, it makes this very easy to rinse and repeat. Roasty bitterness really aids this beer from being too sweet, and really brings it all together nicely.

I don't have the right words to sum it up. It's a delicious stout. I think it lacks a little in look and feel, but it smells great and tastes even better, and those are the most important things. Cheers!

Dark appearance with tan head that dissipates quickly. Nice caramel aroma. Taste is a very smooth caramel without any alcohol aftertaste. Definitely glad I tried it.

Had this one with two years of age on it

L -- Pours a fairly dark black color that doesn't let much light through but does have visible carbonation on the side of the glass. Small tan head produced with well-aerated pour retains minimally and laces alright
S -- Molasses, booze, caramel, toffee, dark chocolate, peanut, hazelnut, and nougat
T -- Big molasses, booze, well-roasted malts, and dark chocolate. Semi-sweet
F -- Huge mouthfeel that isn't totally booze-centric. Minimal carbonation. Somewhat velvety when the carb is still perceivable. Smooth, dark finish
O -- Nice, big, smooth stout. Nothing too extreme in either the aromas or the flavors. Remarkably little booziness for the ABV (although it's still definitely there!)

Pour is viscous shiny black with a large, light mocha froth receding to a thin film and thick mocha ring.

Smell has a luscious, seductive peanut buttery nutty coffee roastiness with chocolate milk and a hint of black licorice.

Taste is nutty molasses, dark chocolate, salty roasted nuts and smoky tobacco--Pt5 is just absolutely dialed into the darkness.

Feel is moderately thin though, with a light crisp fizz and semi-dry chew.

Side by side with the bourbon barrel aged version, I liked this better due to the complexity and depth of flavors able to be expressed here without the crippling interference the overbearing barrel brings.

A - Dark brown body (opaque), dark tan head.
S - Subtle notes of toffee and chocolate, big on the booze but well balanced.
T - Most identifiable are coffee/char/roasted malt. Taste lingers for a bit but never quite leaves. The alcohol is well covered but comes out in the aftertaste.
M - Definitely big on mouthfeel, more than full bodied, medium amount of carbonation, long lingering close.
O - Awesome RIS that I will be sure to get more of.

12 oz. bottle dated 11/21/16 from chalice style glass

Pours black, minimal head subsides to a narrow ring. Full but short lived lacing. No solids.
Aroma has toffee, prunes, cocoa, spices, rain.
Cocoa nibs, coffee, slight char, stone fruit, peanut skins.
Full mouthfeel, rush of harmonious flavors released across the tongue. Little kick on aftertaste is the only noticeable alcohol.
I have a few local RIS' which I enjoy, but keep picking up Plead The Fifth when it shows up because of it's refined, complex flavors. Definitely has a place when I don't have the energy to wrestle with a BA monster.
