Notes:
Inspired by West Coast I.P.A.'s, but brewed with Michigan style. The Crooked Tree is heavily dry hopped to give it a big aroma of pine and citrus. The flavors are big, yet very balanced between fresh hops and malt. Often described as "grapefruit" our hops give this beer an excellent fruit flavor that finishes dry.

12oz can
it’s been years since I’ve seen this one anywhere around here
L: slightly hazed amber body; persistent, foamy, beige head slowly fades
S: caramel malt, grain, pine, citrus
T: just as good as I remember; old school IPA flavors: caramel, bread crust, and grain malt backbones met with pungent earthy pine, zesty grapefruit & orange, along with a slight herbalness
F: resinous & sticky bitterness, moderate carbonation, pungently bitter with pine lingering on the dry finish
O: better than I remember it being!

Unfiltered hazy amber color. Minimal head ringing the glass, but lacing the glass nicely. No grapefruit taste as some have implied, but hint of citrus on the nose. Bitter with a clean finish.

The pour is a dark & murky orange. On the aroma i'm picking up some tangy citrus, slight malt bill, & some slight herbal & tea notes as well. The taste follows the nose along with some piney bitterness that shows itself more towards the finish. Cheers! B

Hazy orange appearance with big frothy white head. Hoppy and slight citrus aroma. Hint of lemon on the taste with a little bitterness. The lacing stayed on this one, the head was foamy and fragrant with hops.

A 12oz can with no visible BB date. Acquired recently from the Brewdog webshop. The label describes it as a heavily dry-hopped IPA that delivers pine and citrus character; possesses 46 IBUs.
A: Poured into an IPA glass. Can-conditioned. A deep, hazy orange-marmalade hue with good carbonation and tons of floating sediment. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or so before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.
S: Aroma of resinous hops with hints of pine, weed, citrus peel, grapefruit, leafiness, caramel malt, ale yeast and earthiness. Pretty good, though lacks the expected impact.
T: Tastes of intensely resinous hops with notes of pine needles, dank weed, citrus rind, grapefruit, leafiness, herbs, caramel malt, earthiness and ale yeast. Slightly sweet, followed by a powerful hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with fizzy carbonation and good body. Very astringent; hop oils stimulate the palate. Aftertaste of serious hop bitterness, pine, weed, grapefruit, peel, earthy yeast and caramel malt.
O: Rather nice, though perhaps not as balanced as I might wish. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are stuffed with resinous hops underpinned by caramel malt and ale yeast. Nice body. The bitterness outdoes the malt just a tad. That said, still an enjoyable IPA that deserves your attention if you come across it.

Very nice IPA that’s both easy to drink and flavorful. Nice amber color with some fluffy head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells of floral and pine hops. Tastes similarly, along with caramel, grain and hops. Not too bitter and very smooth, mild mouthfeel. Good amount of carbonation. Will plan to try more from this local brewery.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Dogfish Head tulip. No freshness date.
L: Nearly clear golden copper pour with 2 fingers of fluffy white head. Great retention and lacing.
S: Pine and resin... caramel malts and evergreen.
T/F: Follows the nose... sweet caramel malts and toasty grains. Pine/evergreen forward hop profile. Slightly herbal and spicy. A bit of citrus rind. Good bitterness. Medium bodied... sticky on the tongue.
O: A classic West Coast style IPA. Tasty and drinkable... solid beer.

From tasting notes 03/03/18
Had on-tap at HopCat in Ann Arbor, MI
Appearance - Served up in a nonic pint, clear and copperish orange in color with an off-white, thin layer of suds covering the surface. Strong lacing that covers a lot of the glass in broken sheeting and small spotting where it finds space.
Smell - The aroma is mostly caramel and wood with a hint of citrus.
Taste - Follows the nose. Mostly balanced flavor profile upfront, with notes of citrus, wood and some caramel malt battling it out. Woody character wins out and turns bitter with twig like character, and it lingers strongly in the aftertaste with woody while a hint of citrus stays at bay.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with fair, tingly carbonation. Slick texture that quickly turns a bone dry and slightly harsh finish.
Overall - Decent IPA but not the smoothest or most inviting beer. Lots of woody bitterness. Not one I'd particularly seek out again.
