Black color with a tall milk-chocolate thick creamy-appearing head, receding very slowly. Aroma of roasted malts, roasted coffee, ... IOW, smoked/roasted is the dominant aroma with barely a hint of berries underneath. Thick-ish feel, but not a lot of carbonation; has an almost flat feel. Initial taste is smokey with (as with the aroma) just the faintest hint of berry. Bitter hops appear in the middle and linger into the finish. I have to admit, I was aprehensive about a blueberry stout, but I also have to admit that I am a bit disappointed with how subdued the berry is in both the aroma and the taste. Also, the brewer claims 20 IBU, but there is more bittering than that rating would imply. Overall, a middle of the road stout with not enough berry to validate the name.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. coding 21 06 A1 2055, whatever that means.

jet black body, small dk tan head. decent lacing.

smells "stouty" with a decent hit of juicy blueberry.

taste has more of the "feel" of blueberries than the taste. not unpleasant in any way, just not as much fruit as indicated by the nose.

between medium and full in the mouth.

overall, a nice enough drink, just a bit more blueberry would have made my palate happier.

A beautifully dark flavored stout with decent head and minimal lacing, if any. Aroma is full of chocolate, berry and some roast coffee. Taste is awesomely smooth with notes of chocolate, blueberry, malt, coffee and a little touch of hops tp round things out. Nice, creamy smooth finish

Smells and pours great. Taste is pleasantly mild and good, but nothing overly spectacular here. Would benefit imho by adding vanilla or chocolate notes, and storing in bourbon barrel.

Solid black color with a cherry coke like head 1/3". Aroma hit the roast, chocolate malt and berry notes, pretty much in same proportion to each other.

Taste was dry, not bitter, not acrid, plenty of roast but still smooth. Mild coffee roast notes, berry above that, not discernably "blueberry" but berry nonetheless.

I dug it. Would bang again.

Sepia with jet black that fades fast. 4
Blueberry with some powdery truffle and date. 3.75
Chocolate, Concord grape, mixed berry, a touch of ash and a clean end. 4
Medium, dry, slight chew. 4

Berry comes out as it warms. But… that’s kinda it. Not a bad stout underneath, and blueberry has facets, but still kinda one note. 3.75

12 oz bottle. Huge aroma of blueberry muffins, jet black with minimal head. Surprisingly not as much blueberry when tasted. Flavors of chocolate, roasted malt with subtle blueberry. Very surprised!

Pours - jet black very thick dense tan head that lasts several minutes great lacing beautiful pour.

Smell - This smells great big blueberry and dark chocolate this thing smells like a chocolate blueberry doughnut.

Taste - Probably one of the best blueberry tastes I have ever tried, good amount of chocolate flavor as well. It also has a nice roasted coffee flavor.

Feel - Medium body very well carbonated coats the mouth

Overall - This is one of the best blueberry beers I have tried and the fact it is a stout amazing beer.

Starts off with a huge amount of promise, as the blueberries smell and taste wonderful (at first). It's once the initial sip passes that you're left with a rather hollow flavor. Pleasant but surprisingly unfulfilling.

Huge blueberry aroma. Medium body, very nice and drinkable stout. Blueberries on the nose and in the flavor, I was surprised it carried through. Very enjoyable, just beware the sludge on the bottle bottom.

L: Pours a dark black with a tan white head.

S: Chocolate and blueberry.

T: The blueberry at times did not come through in the taste. Sometimes it was noticeable. Chocolate and cocoa. A little coffee.

F: A little thin, moderate carbonation.

O: A rock solid stout. Some blueberry tartness come through making it quite enjoyable.

The Tres Blueberry Stout is decent....I typically do not like fruity stouts but this one is good. The beer poured an opaque black with tan head that is not leaving a lace. The scent has roast and blueberry. The taste starts roasty and finishes with a blueberry zeal. The mouthfeel is fuller in body with good carbonation. Overall its a stout worth trying.

Pours black in color with some deep brown highlights. Not much head retention. The beer smells strong of blueberries, with a roasted character that gets pushed to the background. Flavor is wonderful. Roasted dark malts with the addition of some sort of artificial blueberry flavor. I would be hard-pressed to believe this flavor was created by using actual blueberries. I also don't see that as a problem here, this finished product is truly an impressive one.

1/18/16 12 oz bottle. Pours dark black w chocolate one finger head. Little to no lacing. Smells of blueberries and chocolate. Tastes exactly the same as the smell with a roast malt finish. Slightly sweet. Nice mouthfeel. A great beer. Would be great with dessert.

This beer pours a jet black color with a half finger mocha head. Practically no retention and also no lacing. Smell is amazing. Blueberry is definitely the star of the show, with a good deal of chocolate, a bit of coffee, and a hint of roasted malt. Taste is more balanced and still good, but the blueberry is a bit sweet and does not go well with the bitterness on the back end. Feel is full side of medium and slick, but feels sticky in the after taste. Overall a solid stout, but the sweetness from the blueberry is a bit much for me.

this beer is awesome!!! man, dark horse kills it in my limited experience, i love the innovation and execution intersection, its way northeast on the X Y grid of excellence. stunning. a rich dark velvety look to it, no light coming in, no blueberry color either, and a tall inch of head the color of breakfast tea with cream. great aromatic to it, like opening a fresh box of blueberry morning cereal, that old post creation from sometime in the 90s, with the tiny little dried blueberries in it. its true to the fruit, but like that dried wild thing, slight tang. some dark chocolate in nose and taste too, but its not overly cocoa laden or anything, the blueberry is surprisingly forward for how boldly flavored the base stout is. a little java roast in there, but the blueberry cuts both the burnt and the bitter, amazing how much fruit flavor is showing through. lovely stuff. smooth and creamy in feel, enough sweet and tang, but it finishes fluffy and bitter. awesome on the tongue even minutes after the swallow. carbonation is way high for the style, which i dig, and the 7.5% abv i think is spot on for whats all happening here. drinks a bit lighter than that. in love with this, wish i had a few more bottles, and that these guys would start sending some beer out to colorado! bangin, bangtastic, bangalicious

Tasted from draft at Emil's on December 30, 2015. Look is black with a two finger head and lingering lacing. Smell is blueberry, dark cocoa, smoke and dark roasted malt aromas. Taste is blueberry, bitter dark chocolate, caramel and roasted malt flavors. Feel is medium in body with a smooth sweet finish.

This one was a pleasant surprise. Poured from a bottle. Pitch black with a slight mocha head. I thought I smelled smoke mixed with the blueberry. Sure enough, upon tasting, the smokiness stands out even more, which I like. Nice mix of slight blueberry sweetness giving way to a smokey finish. Reminds me of a well done smoked Porter with blueberry mixed in. I liked this even better than their smoked stout.

Blueberry taste is subtle but adds a nice refreshing quality to the beer. It's a similar feel to what I got from Dragon's Milk with raspberry. Mouthfeel is solid and the normal roasty, malty characteristics of an imperial stout interact well with the fruit.

Like others have said, immediately upon opening the bottle you smell the bluebery.

Pours pitch black with a light tan head.

Blueberry on the nose too, chocolate, roasted malts.

Medium mouthfeel, light to medium carbonation.. perfect if you ask me.

Faint blueberry sits nice in back of the roasted malts. It doesnt overpower. You can smell the blueberry in the burps as well, just being honest.

My first beer from Dark Horse. Ive been dying to try their beers and my local Yankee Spirits has most of their line. Looking forward to try more.

Wow! Another great stout from Dark Horse.

Poured into a standard pint glass. Pours a nice thick jet black with a short but very creamy and lasting head. Still has a nice layer even when halfway finished. I wish I would have given it a more agressive pour but I'll know next time.

Big blueberry smell when first poured and I get more now and again when taking a sip. REALLY nice toasted malt and dark roast coffee taste but without any of the burnt flavor. Milky creamy mouthfeel but not gummy. This would probably pair great as a dessert beer with some good white chocolate. Really well balanced and flavorful. At 7.5 ABV it has a bit of a kick to it but still no alcohol taste. Bravo DH!

As a stout, a nice creamy body with plenty of roasty goodness. Lots of nice blueberry in the aroma, but I was hoping for more of it to come through in the taste.

Bottle marked 2011325:
Pour is jet black with a somewhat deep tan head. Head ends up frothy and some lacing is present.
Nose upon opening the bottle is like blueberry pie. Sniffing closer to the glass I get more coffee porter notes in decent strength. I get muted blueberry in the background.

Initial tastes follow the closer nose, Porter/stout neutral coffee notes, maybe a light nuttiness. The blueberry hits softly in the end of the taste, and with more strength as the beer warms. Pretty light lingering unsweetened coffee/chocolate taste.
Light carbonation works for this beer. Tad watery and most of the flavor seems to run off my tongue.

Nice beer, nice American stout/porter (per my differentiation). Initially I was thinking the blueberry was barely a part of the beer. Definitely giving this a little warmth opened up some notes and allowed the beer to meld a little better.

Underpinning the blueberry is a fine, sturdy stout. The color is opaque. The head is rich and clings to the glass like melted marshmallows. The flavor is rich and deep, a smoky, earthy stout with a hint of blackberry of brandy from the blueberries. Not too sweet. The flavor is sharp and crisp. The carbonation is a bit rough for a stout, but the overall flavor and quality of the beer is excellent. Very good.

A- Pours jet black, there is absolutely no light getting through this. Frothy mocha-brown head.
S- Blueberry, dark bready malt, smells of a slightly burnt blueberry muffin
T- Dark coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, smoky finish, the blueberry is almost non existent in the taste, but it does provide a slight tartness on the finish.
M- Creamy and smooth, full-bodied, low carbonation.
O- I'm wary when it comes to fruit in beer, but I decided to give this a shot and I'm glad I did. The blueberry is really only in the smell, which is phenomenal, and it actually fades after a few minutes. The slight tartness of the blueberry blends perfectly with the smokiness and roasted malts making this a great all around stout that offers something a bit different.
