Bottle poured into Duvel snifter. Didnt think I'd get the chance to try this but thanks to TATURBO for the hookup!
A: Poured vigorously into the glass, has a cola like appearance and left about a half inch of khaki colored head.
S: Dark fruits galore! Plums, dates, raisins, candied sugar, caramel, toffee, you name it, its all there.
T: identical to the nose, but also super intensified. everything carries over to the taste and then some. Absolutely can not believe this beer weighs in at 17.5%! An amazing sipper to enjoy on this cold winter night, but one could drink this dangerously fast if not careful.
M: Lower side of medium and completely works for this one.
O: outstanding high abv beer, bursting with flavor and meant to be sipped and savored... and I have no problem doing so. Would love to enjoy one.. or two of these every winter. Phenominal and definately worth seeking out or trying if given the oppurtunity.

12oz bottle poured into a Founders tulip. From the '12 4Elf release, aged a little over a year and half. 13% Abv
A- Pours a dark black cola color, an off-white head forms that quickly recedes leaving a fairly flat top, carbonation fairly on the low side but decent for style, very thin clingy lacing.
S- Raisins, hint of toffee and molasses, slight licorice, just a faint presence of oxidation, booze well hidden. Nice subtle complexities, not overly aromatic but for a 13% barleywine this is definitely on the better side.
T- Raisins and other dark fruits, licorice, hints of plums, light toffee and caramel, just a pinch of molasses, ends with a slight bit of butterscotch, raisins, and slight warming booze presence that blends nicely with the flavors. For a 13% barleywine the flavors blend very nicely adding a nice sweetness but not overdoing it and still hiding the booze taste.
M- For 13% this is incredibly smooth, just a slight warming presence on the finish that adds a nice touch, sweet but not overly cloyingly sweet on the mouthfeel- done just right, fairly drinkable for a high abv barleywine.
O- This beauty has been aging very nicely, I was nicely surprised by how well it was tasting. It had a lot of the flavors I love in barleywines and was done just right. Over a year and half in this is aging very nicely with smooth flavors and not overly boozy presence, I think this will continue to hold up for another few years. Wish I had more to revisit!
