12 oz bottle served in a lager glass.

Pours clear dark brown; translucent. Small, semi-durable head.
Malty aroma with more complexity than evident in the flavor. The flavor is slightly bitter and a touch more dark roasted in flavor than average for style. In fact, there's a faint touch of char that comes out in the aftertaste. Flavorful.

Smooth, medium-full body with medium-light carbonation.

Appearance: Pours a deep muddy brown color.

Overall: The aroma is butterscotch, raisins, maple syrup, and cocoa butter. Has a smooth caramelly and lightly nutty maltiness taste, with a chocolatey accent and a bit honey here and there. Finishes with a toasted bitterishness in the end. It is a typical example of its style, very malty but light and sweet at the same time.

A: Dark murky brown with a foamy off white head that dissipated quickly with little retention.

S: Roasted nutty aromas dominate, followed by hints of caramel and chocolate.

T: Typical brown ale flavors of toast, caramel, toffee, and hints of mild chocolate. Slight hop bitterness keeps the sweet roasted malt flavors well balanced.

M: Medium-full bodied and well carbonated. Slightly creamy (almost brown porter-like). but very smooth.

O: This is the second time I've had this beer. The first time I had it, I wasn't impressed at all. I'm not sure if it's the fire that I'm sitting next to, but I seem to be having a better experience this time around. Solid Brown Ale.

A - Brown, dirty and cloudy, with a huge off white head.

S - Quiet, but a hint of caramel and grass.

T - Typical English brown, with a moderately bitter element of burnt toast combining with caramel, and a spiky hit of bitterness in the close.

M - Strong carbonation. Mild drying in the close.

O - Decent, but not inspired. I enjoyed this brown, but I wanted a bit more.

This beer pours a clear dark brow with a modest head. The aromas are of dark chocolate, uncooked grain, root beer, and a hit of smoke. The most striking thing about the flavor is how much more bitter it is than I was expecting. I get bitter dark chocolate, rum, licorice, and a very odd, very bitter aftertaste. The mouthfeeI l is quite thin, with a touch of astringency. Overall I was let down by this beer. I love hop bitterness, but I do not want to much in a brown ale.
