L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a medium brown color and a cloudy texture. There was a one inch, foamy, off white head that lasted a below average amount of time. Good lacing.

S: A decent aroma of malt, caramel, a nutty quality, and a sweet, sugary quality.

T: Tasted of a bit of toffee, some caramel, dark malt, that typically brown ale nuttiness (not as pronounced as in some brown ales), and a tinge of chocolate. A solid enough flavor that's very much in line with the typical English brown ale style.

F: A fair amount of carbonation and a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Generally, this is a drinkable beer, but nothing that's going to wow you. Still, it's sweet, easy to drink and likable.

I tried this from the bottle purchased at grain + verse, poured chilled in a tulip.

The color is deep brown with thin tan head with fine bead wavy lace sticks. The smell has a sweet malt with dark coffee quality and mild caramel element with herbal hop aroma. The feel is good with mild dry and bitter entry with medium carbonation and low sweetness and alcohol in feel

On draught. Another excellent dark ale from these guys. Always a bit of burnt wisp in the nose and taste which seems to be a hallmark (or an imagination on my part?). The pour started an appealing dark blood red to brown with a decent creamy beige head & good lacing. The aroma evoked burnt molasses, raisin, baker's chocolate and oddly a hint of spruce. Medium bodied with a bit of a creamy smooth mouthfeel. The taste likewise was made of molasses, dark chocolate, and coffee but also a cashew quality rounded by some warmth and bite of hops. Very enjoyable

BOD 12/19/15. Dark brown cola like pour. Slightly below normal head volume, normal lacing and retention.

Outstanding rich nose of nuts, molasses, light roast char and a hint of dark chocolate.

Light medium body with a smooth texture with a few creamy hints and aspects. Superb carbonation with a fairly effervescent middle and a nice finely bubbled prickly finish.

The flavor profile is quite good and rather flavorful for a brown ale. The flavors of the nose all appear with a nutty molasses serving as the base. It begins with a wave of light roast char that hints at chocolate. The middle brings a low bitterness that fades allowing a light sweetness to emerge. Here is where chocolate makes its strongest showing over a growing toasted grain influence. The finish has a hint of dryness and a slow fade of nutty charred grain.
