Combining the best aspects of three major types of beer, Wheatfish is brewed like a German wheat beer, cold-fermented, aged like a lager, and hopped (three separate additions of Cascade hops) like an American Ale. The wheat contributes a full body and light spiciness, the hops give citrus hints and the finish is crisp and smooth. Wheatfish is low in bitterness and extremely drinkable.

this is way better than its ratings, and really one of the better ones i have had from these guys, it is a neat style hybrid, covers a lot of ground and flavor notes, and is still light in alcohol, dry, and drinkable, i think this is a nice recipe, something a little different in a wheat beer. there is a lot of haze to this, looks wheaty and frothy headed like a good hefe, but doesnt have that strong estery yeast profile, instead its crisp and clean, lager-esque, a cool way to make the wheat pop out, and even with the higher hopping, the wheat is still the main flavor agent for me. i get some cool earthy character from it too, almost spice like some rye in here, but the hops contribute some of that bite as well, along with an orange peel note and a grassy noble herbal character before the moderate bitterness kicks up. a little old school on the hops, a light pine element there too, but overall the beer is real clean, fluffy and expansive feeling, nicely carbonated, fresh as can be, and very flavorful. a summer slammer, but more going on with it than in most of them, and probably substantial enough for the colder months too. great brew, smart conceptual merger, i dig.

Appearance: hazy yellow in color with a 1" head that slowly fell.

Smell: mild grass and wheat tones come through to the nose.

Taste: mild wheat flavor with some soft lemon zest, some grass, and a mild bitterness.

Mouthfeel: light in body. Lightly crisp to start, smoother towards the finish.

Overall: a mild flavored beer that is very easy to drink.

Had on tap at some lounge in a lodge just outside of Glacier National Park. Really had no idea what I was ordering here, as I chose it on a whim even though I usually don't care for wheat beers. Turned out to be blown away.

This is a beautiful beer, golden-orange and hazy with a foamy head, just all around great appetizing appearance.

It smells citrusy and bready, a unique smell compared to the banana/clove smells of many other wheat beers. Strangely enough, a woman at the table next to me commented that she thought it smelled wonderful so she decided to order one too. I have no idea how she could smell it from so far away; she must have superhuman olfactory abilities.

Tastes malty and bready and sweet, but not too sweet. I had one pint without the orange slice that came with it and one pint with the orange, tasted fantastic both ways. The fruit is not necessary as it is with some lesser beers that need their flavors hidden with added citrus...

Others have mentioned the creamy mouthfeel, and I agree. It's creamy but light, and is certainly refreshing after a long hike through Glacier.

Overall this is one of the best beers I had on my recent trip west, and I wasn't exactly expecting to find that in Montana.

I rather enjoyed the body and flavor of this wheat. I love wheat beers but anymore they all tend to blend into the same thing for me. This was one of the wheat beers that actually made me notice it in recent history.
