i dont care what the ratings say, this is better beer than its getting credit for being, i absolutely love it. thanks to my girlfriends parents for hooking this one up for me! super cool of them. the beer is fantastic, the best and truest use of huckleberry i have encountered in a beer. it is a little sweet, juicy though, ripe fruit generally is pretty sweet, so that makes sense. the brilliant and probably less appreciated elements are the wheat malt base, which gives this a lively fluffy texture, and the lager yeast, which does its best to dry it out with a congruent crackery balancing element. the fruit is awesome though, jammy and dark, healthy tasting, no hops at all, but they arent missed, at least for me. i like the crispness from the yeast even though it has some residual sugar, its different that way, and all the body is just awesome. i would crush six packs of this if it was available here. this is a little more old school in terms of fruit beer, but i think its perfect for what it is. amazing how refreshing this is when its ice cold, takes me some place i like to be. really excellent stuff, ignore the reviews, try it, you will love it.

This is a very nicely executed fruit beer. I'm not a huge fan of the style, but huckleberries tend to grow in places where I fish, bike, ski and camp. Consequently, I've had to assume the "when in Rome" mantra and dive in from time to time. This version is subtle - it pours a nice golden colour with a typical lager head and a faint whiff of fruit. The actual fruit flavour is quite subtle and pleasant. I won't go out of my way to find this beer, but I won't get of the way if it's in my path.

Excellent overall! Berry-forward without being sweet, leading to a crisp, wheat finish.

Consumed from pint glass. Huckleberry scent is very prominent. Hazy honey coloration, head is foamy, thick but short lasting.

Not as sweet as expected, the wheat works well with the huckleberry juices. Taste is wheat and yeast forward as the huckleberry makes a more gradual and subtle appearance. Flavors do not linger long on the tongue.

Fairly thin with semi-high carbonation, makes it very easy to drink, especially on a day with hotter temperatures. I liked this beer overall. As a Northwest native, it brings forth good memories of huckleberry picking during a camping venture.

This beer is exactly as advertised: a wheat lager with a hint of huckleberry essence added. The huckleberry is not overpowering or sweet, but its there in the background. Otherwise, pretty standard American lager........ watery body

Poured from 12oz can into glass.
Mostly clear/partly cloudy pale gold colored body. One finger white head upon pouring dissipates to wispy cap and thin ring. All left behind lacing slides back down into the beer.
Smell of huckleberry is evident as soon as the cap is removed. Behind the berry is the wheat malt.
Taste continues with the huckleberry on top of a wheat lager. Good balance of the tangy wheat lager with the slightly sweet berry. The berry continues longer into the after taste, which leads to another sip.
Thinner mouth feel. Good carbonation.
The huckleberry is there all the way in the aroma and taste but it is in good balance with the wheat lager. Very refreshing, and a good candidate for several in a session.

Honestly one of the best wheat lager's I have ever tasted. I highly recommend this beer to anyone passing through Montana. The hint of huckleberry makes it an instant classic.

12 oz can
Stella glass

Clear gold, fluffy white cap of 2 fingers, lots of lace.

Aroma of fresh huckleberry and urine. Slight jam. Faint metal and grain dust.

Flavor is unobtrusive; polite and delicate huckleberry and huckleberry jam notes amidst a wheaty profile and slight copper penny. Wheat dust wins out on the finish.

Crisp and creamy, semi-clean, great busy carbonation, mild dryness.

Overall, could drink a LOT of these, especially in warm weather. Too bad they're $11/6 pack, otherwise I would be buying a case. Good stuff for a "non-thinking-beer" mood.

I do feel somewhat unqualified to review this beer. I normally do not like fruit beers, nor do I think I have ever experienced the flavor of huckleberry (or so I think). That being said, I found this beer not pleasant for me. Had this been a style that I like, my review may have been lower. It poured with almost no head at all, and looked like cider. Huge aroma- sweet and sugary yet also flowery. It says this beer has honey in it and you can taste it. It really tasted more like a mead- except it is not. For people who do not like beer, this may be acceptable. I could not finish it.

Not bad at alll....I'm a little surprised at this....pours a cloudy yellow/gold...nose is a sweet huckelbery/vanilla mix...the vanilla notes must be from the yeast strain they use as it has been evident in all the beers of theirs I have tried.

The huckleberry flavor is really subtle and works nicely in this wheat beer....combines with that vanilla flavor nicely...a bit watery in the mouth...i wouldn't want more than a couple of these but a nice flavored wheat beer...better than average and worth a try...thanks again to Budgood1 for this new and unique brew...

pours out a cloudy sun yellow colour with a tight white head. i don't think i know what a huckleberry tastes like but the nose is very full of the berries. taste is very good...there is enough of the berry flavour to make it unique, but it doesn't overwhelm the whole aspect of the beer. there is enough grain and a hint of spice in the overall flavour pofile to balance things out. now, if fruit wheats aren't what you fancy, this might not agree with you...but it's a fairly tasty and refreshing. the mouthfeel is crisp and clean like a lager should be, with an quick bitter hop snap in the finish. lingering tingle of fruit in the aftertaste.

overall, a uniquely flavoured thirst quencher after a hards day work or just for summertime quaffing. i'm pleasantly surprised.

Hazed light golden appearance. Thin, tight white head leaves sporadic lace. Nice berry nose mixed with wheat and NW hops. Another easy drinking brew from Great Northern. My second of the night. Nice prickly carbonation and a light-medium body give this a pretty nice drinkablility on a hot day. Some wheat tanginess mixes with the huckleberry tones without friction. Another Great Northern brew I'd drink if it was around and there weren't a lot of other options. Give me this over most macros any day though.

Thanks budgood1.

This is a very interesting beer. Doesn't look like much. No head to speak of. No lacing. But the beer is a slightly clouded orange-straw color. Smell those huckles! Tastes very refreshing. There's a slight wheat flavor. I'm teetering on the mouthfeel. It's nice and crisp at first, but the aftertaste is a little too tangy. I guess it gets you to taste more to get rid of the aftertaste and have some more of the good taste.
