80 Shilling is Belhaven's classic, hand-pulled, cask-conditioned ale - just like great great great grandpa would have had. It has a classic red appearance in the glass, rich and smooth. An Austrian Emperor once described 80/- as 'the burgundy of Scotland'. Not sure how many he'd had, but the man clearly had taste.

Bottled but sadly it's a clear bottle
Now without the aid of a safety net Pours a nice mid brown body with barely visible off white head but responds to oral syringe to bolster that head
Smells of stewed hops and cigars
There is that in the flavour with copper coins too
Not too bad mouthfeel for the low abv and okay carbonation
Above average
If offered I wouldn't turn down a free one

Amber colour. Quickly dissipating head.
Hoppy aroma. Malt detected.
Not much flavour but what is there is reasonably well balanced between malt and hops.
Ordinary feel.
Adequate at best.
