Poured into a Guiness pint glass jet black with a creamy nitro cascading light beige head atop.Aromas are light with chocolate mocha notes and a bit of tin.Although the nitro pour gave off a creaminess in the head it was really thin, even for the the style.Flavors of dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate and earth, mild flavors with a thin feel is not the best thing in the world.I was expecting better from a pretty good brewery but this just okay.

On tap in Elie, Fife.
Thick creamy head looks like a nitro tap. .
Aroma: Dominated by dank and earthy English hops. Disappointing.

The flavor is quite fine. Somehow the hops fade to the background, excepting the mild-moderate bitterness. Solid dark malt flavor with just faint hints of coffee.

440ml can - wow, haven't seen anything new from these guys around here for a very long time!

This beer pours a clear, rather dark red amber highlighted brown colour, with a teeming tower of cascading, super-creamy tan head (there must be one of those nitro widgets in this thing), which leaves a low berm of approaching landfall lace around the glass as it quickly settles.

It smells of lightly roasted, bready and doughy caramel malt, bittersweet cocoa powder, faint cafe-au-lait, a hint of black licorice, and some ethereal earthy, musty, and dead floral hop bitters. The taste is semi-sweet, grainy and bready caramel malt, a touch of free-range ashiness, subtle bar-top nuts, weak day-old coffee notes, faded dime-store chocolate, and more rather underwhelming earthy, herbal, and floral hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly tame in its insouciant-seeming frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and dead smooth, with a pleasant creaminess pretty much there from the get-go, duh. It finishes off-dry, the malt running on a winning lingering ticket.

Overall - this comes across as a pretty bang-on version of the style, one perhaps altered just a bit by using Scottish ingredients, but the effect on the whole is the same. Simple, and easy to put back while watching the snow pile up in my yard.

Poured from a chilled 14.9 ounce can into a shaker pint glass. Black with ruby highlights. Nice head of foam and retention. Good lacing. Smooth and creamy with just a hint of sweetness.

Awesome looking and no actual flaws, it still falls short as other say. The bigger brother looks promising though.

The beer pours out a black color with red hues and 1 finger of creamy off white colored head---------------- the aromas are of milk chocolate and roasted malts--------------- the flavors are of chocolate and roasted malts with a touch of minerality, the beer has a creamy medium mouthfeel with a super smooth finish------------------ overall this beer is good- it's simple but highly drinkable it's a crusher of a stout--

14.9oz can (L5085 08:30) milked into a bulbous pint glass has a deep brown body floating a proud 1in tan head that persists in a 1/4in cap.

Aroma is raost coffee. Taste matches with a sweet malt. Feel is not quite thick, but creamy and full, coating the mouth and tongue.
The more I have from Belhaven, the more I want.
