Pours a dark murky colour, a nice cabernet red tinge up to the light but a lot blacker in the glass. Head is very generous, beige, doesn't retain very well though. About half a cm left, nice and dense, lace is a bit thin but nice and sticky.

Nose is very chocolatey, with sweet notes of dark Belgian chocolate and a hint of toasted grain. Slight minty character towards the back as well, and a nice malty English toffee sweetness. Good dark character. Murky and mysterious but sweet.

Tastes pretty dark. Lots of darker malt on the front, with hints of dark chocolate, raisins, cola, black pepper and some light vanilla notes as well. Slightly sour overall, particularly on the finish, with a slight vinous edge, yeah, look it's a bit of a hodge-podge but all the flavours that are mishmashed together are very enjoyable.

Swills nicely in the mouth. Quite slick body, pretty good.

Dark and enjoyable, mostly sweet but sour in the right places. An enjoyably complex brew. Easy enough to drink.

On tap at the Local's ANZAC SpecTapular.

Pours a very deep dark blood red color with an initially overflowing head of taupe coloured bubbles that settle down to a film. Nice colour in particular.

Some dark and fresh resonant blackness on the nose, contrasted with a nice toasted grain note which oddly feels as though its leavening the whole slightly. Pleasant, if not hugely robust.

Starts smooth and dark grained, with a phenolic heat through the centre. Nice sharp booze notes allover this, which is what you need in a wee heavy. Grain notes resonate to the back leaving a slightly coarse dry finish. Feel is just a little thinner than it should be.

Surprisingly smooth and surprisingly drinkable for its gravity. Tastes pretty smooth throughout and ends up a rather enjoyable brew.
