Illegal beers sales, improperly stored IPAs, hassling used-car-salesman attitude, price discrimination, fake reviews, I can go on-and-on about how terrible this place is.

To elaborate:
As of today (July 12, 2011) the website lists "Three Floyd's Dreadnayght" [sic] & "Arltil Panzer Walf" [sic] as well as Bell's Expedition Stout, and Double Trouble. All of which are not distributed into California, and therefore, ARE NOT LEGAL TO SELL IN THIS STATE. And another time it was $9.99 for a single bottle of Founders Breakfast Stout (also illegal to sell in CA). He said, "It's $25 for a 4-pack of this stuff. And I'm the only person in California that sells it." No kidding. You're probably also the only person in California taking advantage of locals and non-locals alike by selling beers illegally through your store. BTW the stuff retails for $9-12 for a 4-pack.

As a former local customer I only bought IPAs from the refrigerator, not from the humongous stack of IPAs sitting in the middle of his store at 90*F+ temperatures (this is Santee, one of the warmest places in the entire county). Alpine, Ballast Point, Stone, etc., are all just sitting there ready for unknowing online customers to purchase. Not to mention seeing his minions at brewery-only releases buying their allotments and reselling them at his store to "online customers only" at absurd markups (Veritas 009 for $75+ a bottle!!).

Take one step into the store and get immediately hassled by Freddy, the owner. "What are you looking for?" "I get beers that no one else can get." "Look me up on BeerAdvocate - they all love me - they all know Freddy is the shit." This is not a dramatic reenactment.

Regarding the price discrimination, I have experienced it firsthand. He charged me $3 less for a bottle of a particular limited release beer than he charged my wife for the same bottle. Just read the other reviews, too.

How many of these reviews can possibly be real? Just look at how many people join the site, review Bev4Less the same day and never contribute anything else to the site, let alone even log on after that.

The selection is pretty damn good, considering the illegal beer sales and brewery-only-release muling. However, it's all more expensive than most other stores around the county.

I used to keep quiet and simply choose not to shop here anymore, but now I am just appalled by the practices at this store. It's time to let people know about this shady place. Its a good thing the ABC doesn't come in here and audit his sales to see that he's illegally selling beers that aren't distributed into California. But then again, how do we expect him to pay for the 7 series beemer out front?

Bottom line: Avoid at all costs.

Visited Beverages 4 Less on 2/13/16.

Great little place. What an amazing selection of beer. Beers were well organized and easy to navigate.

The only thing better than the quality selection of beers is Freddy and his knowledge of beer. That man has boundless energy and a true love for beer. It seemed like there was a great story behind every brewery, beer, or brewer!

If there's something you want, check this place out. Highly recommended!

If you are looking for a fantastic beer store to order from online or if you are in the San Diego area, check this place out! Fred’s own, Beverages4Less, has a wonderful assortment of beer that includes rare and limited releases. His website has a list of all beer available; however, make sure to look on the Instagram page, @beverages4less, as there are daily posts of others that are sometimes not on the site. Ordering from Fred has never been an issue. He communicates extremely well and very courteous. Not only does he have knowledge of beer, but he is always willing to make suggestions and/or recommendations. Shipping has also never been a problem. My beer arrives promptly and complete. If you have ordered from him once, he keeps your information on file so no need to resend all your information. All in all, one of the best beer stores and great service all the way around!

These guys routinely mule people out to illegally sell Heady.
Beer is kept warm and people are forced to buy lots of other beer for the privilege of buying one warm Heady. This place is everything that is wrong with beer exploitation today.

I have not been to the actual store.. My rating is based off an online purchase from Beverages 4 Less.

- Being able to purchase hard-to-get beer like Pliny The Elder and Supplication through the internet (Which I'm sure is very illegal)
- UPS Ground shipping and good packaging
- I purchased Pliny The Elder, which was VERY fresh (bottled within 1 week of me receiving the package). Couldn't be more pleased with that.

- Fred originally sent out an email stating (2 bottle limit for Pliny, and 1 bottle limit for Supplication). Then a few days later I received an email stating (3 bottle limit for Pliny, 2 bottle limit for Supplication). Notice the difference in bottle limits. Quite irritating.
- He mentioned 6 bottle minimum. So when I originally purchased from him, I only had 3 bottles of beers that I actually wanted, and had to look through his "not so well organized/updated" website to decide on what other 3 beers I wanted.
- Price came out to over $100+ for 6 bottles of beer to be shipped from California to Chicago. My pocket still hates me.

Overall it was a decent experience. Very easy transaction, but make sure that he has the beers in-stock that you're interested in trying. And be ready to pay a good amount of money for it to be shipped to you.

Not a local so I haven't been in the shop but have had no issues in dealing with them. Purchase was made, products were sent, well packaged and in timely fashion. Even changed my order and they were a great help. Prices are a bit higher but for someone on the other side of the country it is great to able to have access to this stuff so what's a couple bucks? Deducted points in "vibe" cause you can't order certain things without spending more on other stuff. The service as I said was great

I see lots of 1's and 5's for this place. I have never visited in person but I have ordered from him twice in 2013 and again in 2014 (yes I am an eastern guy....) Order 1 was based on Parabola, Pliney and lost abbey stuff, order 2 was Alpine.
The Good: Ordered on a Sat and stuff arrived in Buffalo on Friday as promised. Nothing broken. Nelson and Pliney's were <2 weeks old as promised. Bottles well packed, not broken and in good condition. On the phone Fred made some good reco's and allowed me to get an extra Pliney and Supplication. Prices were no more expensive than other online shops.
The Not So Good: Ordered Knee Deep Triple and a few others that were 3 month's+ old. The weren't bad by any means but to me that was not cool. Shipping feed were about $25 bucks more than they should have been for 18 bottles. Got dinged for a $30 handling fee or some such thing, again not cool for 18 beers.
Overall I don't feel like I got ripped off or scammed and he did deliver what I asked for on time. So if you don't mind the extra shipping and handling you should feel safe to order. I would do business with Fred again if I was in need of those beers.

This dude stockpiled tickets to Lost Abbey and is selling them for $250 a pop. Lame.

This is my go to place for internet beer purchases. No one has a better selection than what Freddie offers. A lot of really good and rare beer that is unavailable on the East Coast and especially Miami. He is also a hell of a guy. Whenever I email him an order he immediately emails me back my tracking number. Always incredibly prompt and ordering is hassle free. The shipments are always expertly packed too. I have recommended him to everyone and will continue to do so without reservation. Call Freddie, you will be glad you did.

Great place, great selection. My family and I have known Freddie for years. Takes great care of his customers. Definitely worth a drive to check out the selection and try new brews. If you haven't been here you need to check it out. Pricing is reasonable for what you're looking for, especially if it is hard to find.

Avoid this place. Ridiculous prices, ridiculous mimimums, ridiculous owner. He gets the beers but he does not understand the craft beer culture. He hoards beers and treats customers like sh--!

This online shop offers a wide selection of many hard-to-get beers at decent prices. Great service and very quick responses. The ordering process is a little quirky for an online shop, but works well and is easy once you get the hang of it. It's an online beer specialty shop worth checking out for something new to try and/or for something elusive. I have bought from them, enjoyed the beer and service, and will continue to buy from them.

I had to rate "atmosphere" which is ridiculous, BA, because this is an online store! Really? Atmosphere? So I called it "perfect" because how am I supposed to do that. Why not have a "does not apply" option here too as with food?

If it wasn't for BA this place would be a total hidden local gem because it's in a non-descript strip mall off the highway. Freddy is a great owner and knows his stuff. It's worth a stop to check out what he has available especially if you are on your way back from Alpine. Since he has so much traffic he's always getting new stuff in the store. Everytime I go I spend a long time chatting with Freddy. I wish I had a store like this nearby. Oh, and he has a whole section dedicated to home brew materials.

A corner unit in what looks like a strip mall attached to an apartment complex.
selection is decent, the local stuff is in the coolers on the back wall. Good amount of Bruery stuff and a good little selection of some Belgian stuff too.

The owner asked where I was from, asked what I was looking for, opened a beer to share and then got me some stuff from through the back. Awesome service
