Have been going here for a little while now. Fred is a really cool guy and has a great selection of beers in stock. If he doesn't have exactly what I'm looking for he always recommends something else to try and has been spot on in every recommendation. Will continue going here for a long time to come.

Just completed my first order with Fred, he's the man!! Selection is second to none and order was processed the same day. When my first choice was sold out, found Fred to be very knowledgeable in offering a highly rated substitution. Strongly recommend giving them a shout!

Very happy with this store and the person I talked with on the phone, Freddy.
He had a few rare beers that I can't get in Colorado, so I ordered 6.
You may pay a little extra but great service and a knowledgeable person to advise you can be very helpful.
I will be a repeat customer!

Freddie is the man. Such a nice dude. You can tell he loves his craft. I've been a repeat customer many times over (online). You're not going to find much better place to buy beers. He'll go out of his way to talk beers and help you find new things that you haven't tried before as well.

I'm from Ohio and I was looking for a beer shipper out of Ohio that could sell me beers I can't get in Ohio. So, I discovered the Beverages 4 Less a couple months back, signed up for the email list and started following the FB page. Since I was planning a trip to San Diego, I decided to stop by and get a sense of the owner directly before I ordered anything. So I met Freddy, told him my story (Ohio, etc) and we hit it off right away. He had a scheduled tasting the Friday evening I was there and I enjoyed the three planned beers. Then Freddy started opening other beers (excellent, difficult to get beers) like Pliny the Elder, GI Bourbon County, and others not ever seen in a retail place in Ohio. He was very generous and eventually I started turning down beers since I was feeling like I was taking advantage of the hospitality.

We continued a great conversation about beers and such. Freddy recommended a couple local bars to enjoy great beers.

Anyway, I did end up buying six bombers and had them shipped back to Ohio. The prices were as expected. The shipping was what is was - Freddy had no control over that. The beers damn near beat me back to Ohio. They arrived in mint condition.

I will buy more beer from Freddy and Beverages 4 Less as time goes on. Next time I'm in San Diego, I will definitely stop by and visit with my friend Freddy.

Thanks Freddy.

I recently made my first purchase from Beverages 4 Less. I get the weekly/daily news letter from Fred and finally gave him a call to order some great hard to find beers. Fred is a very polite and knowledgeable man. Made ordering very easy and I appreciated his polite demeanor. When in doubt give these guys a shout, they know beer and how to get it to you.

Fred gets a lot of hard to find beers, and it's awesome that he will ship out of state. I've gotten some very fresh hard to find IPAs/IIPAs, and the barrel aged beer selection is great too! I have placed a couple orders now and everything has been perfect. You will pay a slightly higher price depending on the nature of the bottle. I wish a few rare beers were a few dollars less, and I would purchase quite a bit more often.

I have ordered many times Fred and he never fails to disappoint. I literally emailed him inquiring about a few things and he calls me back in 2 minutes with all the answers. Shipping is fast, packaging is good, service is amazing. He always has the stuff I'm looking for no matter if it's normal stuff or rare/hard-to-find stuff. One of the best experience I've had from an out-of-state liquor store, no doubt. I'll be ordering from here over and over. Thanks, Freddy!

Beverages 4 Less is my go-to spot for sourcing many California beers I can't otherwise get in Oregon (Alpine, Knee Deep, Iron Fire, Port/Lost Abbey, etc). Their website and emails are frequently updated so I know what's new/fresh. I've placed several orders over the last couple of years and never had any issues. Good customer service and great selection. I buy mainly IPAs and the prices are reasonable.

Fair prices on selection and shipping.
I couldn't recommend this place enough.

Freddy. He will try to sell you $9 cans of Surly. Or $12 cans of Heady. Online? No problem. Freddy will sell you $100 bottles of DDG. They get the same amount of beer as other stores in San Diego, but those stores won't demean you when you refuse to pay Freddy's high prices for illegal beer. Or charge you more for the normal stuff.

Come here to be overcharged, see illegal beer sales, and be hassled by Freddy.

The outside appearance matches the owner's personality.

Since it seems we're all writing reviews on this place, including those idiots who think it's funny to write a fake review as a parody to someone's negative experience in this store, I figured I'd actually write a real review based on my visit. The place was decent, really nothing too special in regards to selection sitting on the shelf. Nothing different from any of the stores here in northern California. Prices were definitely marked up compared to what I see. I did not ask for the "special" stuff stashed away for out-of-towners in the back as I think it's pretty shitty to hold things from your local customer just so that you could mark up the price of such products. Will I go back? Probably not.

Love this place. Scott Feutz must be off his Meds. Wonderful staff, wonderful selection, nice location, had nothing thrown at me. Would go again and again until my liver gives out and I die in the gutter. Need 46 more characters.... Ain't nobody got time for that.

Well, I had not ever been here before, but I heard about their epic beer selection. So I "liked" Beverages 4 Less on Facebook so I can keep updated on their new beer releases. I saw a news feed on my wall from B4L saying that they had Bourbon County Stout. Well, of course I was all over it. I know that beer is not available here so I took the long drive to Santee to check this out.

My GPS got me there and I parked right away in the 15min parking and walked in, very excited. When I crossed the door I said, with much excitement "I heard you have some Bourbon County". Right away the gentleman behind the counter said "only to customers I want to give it to". WOW! I was in shock. So I tried to play it cool, thinking that maybe it was his weird sense of humor. I browsed the beer selection and he started quizzing me by shouting things out like "Where did you hear that I have the Bourbon Count?" I politely answered "I saw it on your facebook feed". He then started to quiz me "Oh so what else did you see that we have in?". I confessed that the Bourbon County was the only thing I have seen from B4L lately on my facebook feed.

He then received a phone call and I left him alone while he handled business on the phone. I looked at the impressive beer selection and waited until he was done with his phone call to ask "So, will you sell me one?", I asked. He answered "No. It's not worth it to me".

So I walked out, completely unsatisfied and misled.

Dear B4L. I know you are not close to me. I really would make the long drive to pay you for your great beer selection. I just wish you treated me the way most businesses should treat customers. Perhaps I am not a long time customer, but I could have been one and I probably would have been given you treat me like a decent human being. This was by far one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I know a lot of beer people are snobby, but this was unexcusable. That said, if I do hear that your service is better and perhaps you were having a bad day, I will gladly delete this review and give you rave reviews upon a pleasant visit.

I heard about this place from a forum on this site and decided to check it out while I was visiting San Diego
The place is amazing, huge selection of craft! Didn't know where to start, Fred was the one working and he is very knowledgeable about beer, I had somewhat of an idea of what I was looking for and everything Fred showed me was exactly what I had in mind. Almost talked to him about beer for two hours.
Stores all the beer away from sunlight and refrigerates all beer that needs to be consumed fresh
They have a nice home brew section as well
Definitely stopping here every time I'm in the area, and recommend that people should stop by when in the area

I had previously rated this store at a perfect 5. However, once i realized that Freddie was not only shipping older than told Pliny to me, he was actually ripping me off as well. We made an agreement to trade 1 case of Pliny for one case of Heady topper i had access to. I can't begin to tell you how much business i have not only brought Freddie but done with him. I would say well over $6,500 worth from just quickly looking over my receipts from him. I would not only order many many beers from him usually 24 to 48 at a time, we would exchange Pliny the elder for my header topper. But the first time i received the case from him there was only 12 and he told me that is a full case/ since its 16 OZ its only 12 not 24. Thinking from what i knew that sounded a little absurd but then i decided no what "he won't lie to me" so i let it slide and believed him. After doing business with many other of my own customers, i shipped a case of Pliny to a good friend of mine who said "you only shipped me 12" i told him thats all that comes in a case. Well he informed me that he called Russian River and that 24 is a case for them. So i called Freddie and asked him about this and requested that he either send me the remainder of the cases he owes me or i would not be sending the 2 cases of header topper for the ONE case of Pliny he shipped me. He would not budge and said that we agreed on 12 Plinys for 24 Headys, which is true BECAUSE he told me that was a case. Which he knew was a lie and had pulled one over on me. I felt horrible about not sending him the heady topper (even though i have sent him at least 14 cases of header topper which he sells through his online beer business at $12 a can, for a lousy 7 cases of pliny at $7.99 a piece w/o shipping) Long story short he never would make up for lying/ purposely mis informing me about the true quantity of a Pliny case, he then called me daily for about a month and then monthly still to this day, has been about a year. All he had to do was make it right or at least act like he was by sending me a case or two. He then tried to charge my credit card i had used to make previous purchases through him for $174 for the one case of PLINY he sent me for the TWO cases of Heady topper. However, I had to get a new card (thanks hackers of Target) and he informed me he was charging my card now because i didn't send him his cases. I thought he was a stand up guy and had no doubt he would make this right once i brought it to his attention, but no he didn't. So therefore, he lost my business completely and a few friends of mine. Also I wrote this statement below because he called and told me a former employee was making lies up about him. so i wrote a good review about him because i felt he deserved it. well now his true colors have shown and i completely retract my previous review. I did however leave it up so you can see how quickly it went from being a great guy to deal with to the review i have just written. however he does have a great selection and rare beers. UPDATE... Just received a text message from Freddie " thanks for the review low life" if you would like me to send you a picture of this text message, message me! I am going to create a link however that you can click on to see the text message also.

While on a beer and brewery tour I decided to stop by and see if all the great things I have been reading about this place were true. I along with Galengeueze, arrived there on the afternoon of July 17th. We were immediately greeted by Freddy the owner. He said he knew right away we were from out of town. He asked if we were hoppy fans. When we replied in the affirmative, he opened a bottle of Coronado Sock Knocker and poured us some. Wow what a way to greet a new customer! He then proceeded to show us around and hook us up with some real gems. While he was explaining his unbelievably awesome shipping we had the owner of Black Momma Vodka show up and start pouring samples of her different Vodkas. What a great experience. Freddy is one of the most knowledgable, friendly, and downright hospitable gentlemen I have had the pleasure to meet. He is sincere and goes the extra mile to make the customers shopping experience very gratifying. He will be a regular stop for us on future trips as well as our new go to guy for shipping things we cannot get in AZ. Thanks Freddy from the boys from Arizona! Make this a stop when you go to San Diego! You will not regret it!

Awesome guys to work with - ordered several beers and was called almost immediately to talk to me/confirm my order. Really great selection that other places just didn't have.

Packaging/Shipping a bit pricier than other stores I've dealt with, but the selection just can't really be beat. The two even each other out and the customer service takes it back over the top - had a change in my order after I realized I could get one bottle here locally. Not a problem, Freddy was back on the phone with me in 5 minutes and swapped out that particular bottle without any issue.

Just visited San Diego for the first time last week and I made this my go-to bottle shop based on the reviews here and wasn't disappointed!

I don't know the market very well or what the competition's shelves look like, but I'd imagine this place probably has one of the better selections in SD.

What went above and beyond for me was the owner, Freddy. I love places that offer good customer service and he delivered. He greeted me as soon as I entered the door, when there were a couple people in there, he was offering samples of a beer he was excited about and helped me out with the local selections.

It looks like a high volume shop which is great for the freshness of the selection. I bought almost entirely IPAs (hey, I was in Cali...when in Rome right?) and they all were nice and fresh.

One key thing is that if you want the hard to find selection, you have to ask about it. He keeps the limited release beers in the back. Also if you are looking for Pliny, just ask when he's getting it in. It moves quickly, but he seems to get a weekly delivery of it and you just have to swing by then.

I used to live right up the road from this place and moved to Texas about 7 years back, (sigh). Upon a vacation to San Diego I looked up the primo place to buy all the west coast faves and Beverages4less hit my radar.

I dragged my wife and kid there after a hike of Cowles Mtn and was not disappointed. Upon entering, Fred welcomed us into his beer mecca. From that point forward, it was a blur due to the massive selection of beers unavailable in TX or most of the country for that matter. Mother Earth was there which was cool as i just had 2 of their beers the night before and was impressed.

Bottomline, Fred hooked me up w/some of the hardest to find brews at VERY reasonable prices. This place is legit world class and caters to BA's.

It's a basic liquor store set up, but when you walk in and start looking at the inventory, you notice you're not just at another corner street market. With shelves after shelves of delicious beer from all over the world, you're guaranteed to find something that you've been looking for for a while.

Come in on a Friday and Freddy will be pouring some of his favorite beers. Sometimes there will even be a representative from one of the craft breweries in the area pouring their beer.

Like with many great beer stores around here, it's all about who you know. Often times owners don't like giving up their prime beers to just anyone. I know that sounds kind of ridiculous at first, but it's not hard to "pay your dues" when it comes to finding awesome beer already on the shelves at this store.

Go on Facebook and Like the Beverages 4 Less page and they'll keep you updated on the newest arrivals. Freddy has even been nice enough to put a bottle aside for me, so that I can go over and pick it up after I get off work.

From the highly coveted beers back east, to the finest craft beers in San Diego, they've got it all. Not to mention all of the imported specialties from around the world. Obviously it's not always available all the time, good beer flies off the shelves, but it's regularly showing up in deliveries. If I want something, this place has it or can get it for me.

I love this store. Freddy is a pleasure to deal with, and he always gets me the beer I need. He also ships beer and the beer always arrives fast and in perfect condition. They have tons of beer that I can't get in my locality. Go on their website and facebook page to see what's in and place your order today. Thanks for everything Freddy.

I recently had the occasion to be in San Diego on a business trip. Now, if you like "west coast style" IPAs, this is like making a pilgrimage...the Holy Grail area of IPAs. You can get many good west coast IPAs in my state (thankfully) but there are many more that i've never seen, and cannot get. Further, when you do get them in the stores here, they can be 3 months (and often more) old when just placed on the shelf. I decided I should hit up some bottle shops while there.

I visited several, and not only did Beverages 4 Less have a good selection (about on par with the other better bottle shops in the area) but definitely superior service. The place isn't that much to look at...think your typical liquor store. However, Fred is obviously very knowledgeable about beer, and willing to go way beyond the call of duty when it comes to customer service.

Example: Have you ever went into a bottle shop and after discussing beers you might like, the owner walks over to the cooler and pulls out a 22 oz bottle, opens it, and lets you sample it to find out? Well, that happened to me. That was quite surprising, to enjoy a free beer on the house. Also, I purchased 4 or 5 beers, but Fred had no problem selling me a beer shipping container large enough to also hold all the bottles that I'd bought from his competitors. Oh, and he even gave me a heads up on how old the various beers were on his shelf, in case I really cared about the freshness.

Prices: Well, I don't drink the kind of beer I do, and pay for shipping, etc, because I'm price sensitive. So, I may not be the best person to judge prices. However, I sure don't think paying $8-9 a bottle for beers that I absolutely CANNOT get because they aren't even distributed in my state is that much (Sculpin, Pliny, Blind Pig, Alpine, Stone special releases, Knee Deep Brewing, etc). Maybe if I lived in California, and could get it locally, I'd think different.

Finally, I've had occasion to also order online from I got the email about what was in stock, sent a request, and got a response within about 30 minutes. The transaction was fast and easy, and he personally called me when ready to complete the transaction. Again, fast, easy, and Fred obviously is trying to stock those beers that are not available many/most other places. That's while I'll keep ordering online from this establishment.
