Wow I wish I could grab more! Visited a hole-in-the-wall establishment around the austintown Ohio area and found these a four pack for $15. Smell and flavor is phenomenal can't believe a coffee Stout could have such Rich fudgy tones of bittersweet chocolate and peanut butter. Doesnt even matter if I was in the mood for a porter the smooth chocolate tones greeted me every time I enjoyed every one. This is a true testament to the glory that is hoppin frog

This is the first and only beer I've ever had with peanut butter. Astringent coffee peanut butter go together in a fantastic way.

Pours black with a finger of khaki foam. Head retention is fair. Aroma is rich peanut butter, coffee, milk chocolate, lactose, and toasted malts. Flavor profile is similar, hitting notes of peanut butter, coffee, milk chocolate and smooth roasted, nutted, and biscuit malts. Nice firm malty base with a delightful topping of borderline dessert flavors. Mouth feel is a touch fizzy which breaks up the smoothness. It has a medium thickness, but drinks like a 6% porter would. Overall, a good porter that comes across simple with a smattering of dessert-like flavors added. Nothing comes off harsh or artificial, just a standard porter injected with added flavors.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 22oz bottle.

Dark mahogany with a thick, milk chocolate colored head.

The aroma of peanut butter wafer absolutely fills the glass, with a touch of roastiness and chocolate. Sharp, sweet, bitter notes of coffee and malt faintly come up in the background.

Super smooth peanut butter and chocolate flavors hit just the right levels without being too sweet. The roastiness of malt helps keep it sane, while at times it and the chocolate take over the peanut butter. The coffee is kicked up a notch in flavor as well, providing a little bitterness and touch of fruitiness to help make this a really scrumptious, hard to put down beer.

This is by far my favorite pb-chocolate beer. It is so luscious and rich in flavor and aroma, yet the feel is not too heavy, making it immensely drinkable. Maybe it's the coffee that helps it stand apart, but while chocolate and peanut butter might seem like a very rich and heavy combo, they aren't too much when paired with the lighter body of Silk, as opposed to if they used BORIS. While Frog's porter is quite a bit heavier than many others, its smooth texture is the perfect fit here.

Pours dark brown with a two finger tan fizzy head that dissipates quickly to a partial film. Little lacing. Nose of peanut butter and dark chocolate fudge with a swirl of vanilla. Taste follows the nose with a roasted coffee and malt finish that lingers with a light sweet bitterness. Silky and slightly creamy with fine low level carbonation. This porter is very nice!

Poured from 22oz bottle into glass. No bottling date information found.
Dark brown colored body, with some garnet colored light pass throughs when back lit. One finger of light tan head, remains for quite some time as a bubble fed, creamy cap. No real lacing left behind.
Aroma is strong with peanut, dark coffee, and dark roasted malts. Suggests a hint of milk chocolate also.
Taste has lots of dark coffee, along with the peanut flavor. Dark roasted malts are the backbone. The chocolate is again a hint. No real bitterness and not real sweet, with just the dark, rich flavors dominating the taste.
Right at the medium level for mouth feel, with a rather smooth feel. Very good carbonation.
Overall, this is an excellently prepared porter. Very smooth and easy to drink, if you like dark coffee and the peanut flavor.

Very surprising flavors that are perfectly balanced. Pours a nice dark brown color with some tan head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells of peanut butter and roast coffee. Tastes similarly, along with dark chocolate, vanilla, malt and a little caramel. Very easy to drink, smooth slightly creamy mouthfeel. Just the right amount of carbonation. It actually becomes more smooth as the beer warms a little. I’m not used to the peanut butter flavor in porters and this one just knocks it out of the park!

22 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a big frothy light tan head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is huge roast chocolate, peanut butter and hazelnut.

The flavor is sweet fudgy chocolate, peanut butter and hazelnut coffee with a lot of roast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little watery.

Overall, a nice dessert beer. Lots of chocolate, peanut butter and hazelnut with not a ton of coffee coming through.

Pours black with a densely creamy tan layer on top. Smells like coffee with cream and sugar, freshly roasted beans, peanut butter cups, and some dark roasted malts. Flavor is sweetened coffee roast, nutty/fruity notes, vanilla bean, and a dry layer of peanut butter. Pretty sweet, but not terribly heavy or overly cloying. Creamy, frothy medium body. A really tasty flavored porter.

I have been on a Stout kick of late & when I mentioned that I was starting to hear the first screeches of the Hops Monkey on my back & needing to feed my hops jones, I was publicly shamed for it. So be it! I am happy to remain in this realm, on The CANQuest (tm) for a bit longer.

From the CAN: "Better Beer Through Knowledge"; "Our Commitment[:] In today's fast-paced world, its [sic] often difficult to find the quality that discriminating people deserve. For those who search for this long lost, undying commitment to the very best, let it be known that one beer will not be compromised. Hoppin' Frog."; "Infusion A - Coffee Porter [:] Swirls of heavenly chocolate and peanut butter flavors surround your senses, as you enjoy this wonderful maze of complexity that is 'Infusion A'. The first of our Tower Tuesday Series, this robust coffee porter is a great example of the eye-opening flavors we have developed with our Tuesday infusions. Taste the results of our research, we are truly developing better beer through knowledge."; "Pour carefully to avoid disturbing the natural yeast sediment in the bottom of the container."

Well, that last puts the kibosh to any thoughts of an inverted Glug. I NEVER go against the brewery's instructions (unless they are to "Drink From the CAN") & so I Crack!ed it open on a Saturday (was I supposed to wait until Tuesday?) & CANmenced a very slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass. This worked well & so I CANducted an in-glass swirl to raise two fingers of foamy, fizzy, light-tan head with modest retention. Color was Very Dark Brown to Black/Opaque (SRM = > 34, < 44) with ruby highlights. Nose smelled strongly of peanut butter! Wow. I was not getting coffee on the nose, but I was willing to play along & see how it pans out. Mouthfeel was medium, but not by much, bordering on watery & thin. The taste was more like a Tastykake Peanut Butter TandyTake, bready with an overlay of peanut butter, enrobed by bittersweet chocolate. Mmm. My late Pops used to love them & I have always liked peanut butter so this was a nice fit, but the coffee seemed to have gone missing from the equation. I remember, as a former teacher, a spirited discussion about peanut butter & the merits of creamy vs. crunchy when one student blurted out, "Crunchy, 'cause I like the feeling of nuts in my mouth!" You CAN imagine the uproar & I had to leave the room as you are NOT supposed to laugh at what students say. Wow! Back to the beer. It was a good Porter, but the coffee was lost in the mix on me. Finish had a semi-dryness in which I finally began to catch the coffee, but I would have preferred that it be a little more forward, especially given the beer's name. Not bad, but a tad spendy for what I got. YMMV.
