22 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a big frothy light tan head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is huge roast chocolate, peanut butter and hazelnut.

The flavor is sweet fudgy chocolate, peanut butter and hazelnut coffee with a lot of roast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little watery.

Overall, a nice dessert beer. Lots of chocolate, peanut butter and hazelnut with not a ton of coffee coming through.

Poured from bottle into Hoppin Frog snifter. Date of review is 7/13/14.

Appearance- Pours a deep dark brown color. Like the kind of brown that is borderline black. Super creamy looking cardboard brown head. Lacing is amazing for a porter.

Smell- WOW! Peanut butter and chocolate are dominating everything else. I do get coffee in the nose too, but much less than the two first scents. It smells exactly like Reese's Pieces.

Taste- Not like the nose at all. So much more coffee and just as much chocolate. The peanut butter is now taking a backseat to the other flavors. Not quite as good as the nose had indicated.

Mouthfeel- Just a bit too thin for the style. I wish the peanut butter and chocolate flavors coated my tongue and throat more, but that's just not the case. The beer disappears as soon as you take a sip.

Overall- Very good offering from one of the best breweries on the planet. You just have to respect the things Hoppin Frog does. They are never boring, always experimental and producers of sought- after beers.

On draft at Capone's on 8-26-2016. Overall a good porter with coffee vanilla and nutty notes. Small white head on top of a dark brown clear body. Not as deep or rich as the better porters, but interesting flavors. Here in the northeast the porter style is brewed thicker, richer and roastier without added flavors. Overpriced for the style so not likely to try again.

22 oz bottle served in a Porter Bar goblet.

Appearance: pours clear but dark, with a reddish brown color topped with a large, creamy tan head that has very good retention and leaves some lacing on the glass.

Aroma: toasted brown bread, coffee, chocolate and peanut butter cookies. Hints of vanilla and light spicing.

Flavor: dark roasted grains, medium roasted earthy coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, roasted peanuts & faint toffee.

Medium-full body with medium-high carbonation.

Overall: a very tasty, if imperfectly balanced and over-carbonated mix of cocoa, peanut butter, coffee and dark roasted grains.

Modest head retention and production.

I had no idea this was a peanut butter coffee porter, but the former is quite strong on the aroma. Chocolate and coffee are present as well, but certainly take a backseat to the peanut butter. Roast and caramel are a distant third.

Cola, dark fruit, and roast immediately; builds to a strong peanut butter middle (reminiscent of a nutter butter); peanut butter slowly fades (but never completely), allowing some more chocolate and roast to carry through the finish. A bit of coffee throughout.

Despite the strong aroma, feel is much more appropriate to the ABV. Medium-light up front, but building to a slightly sticky thickness as the peanut butter presence grows throughout the sip.

A really tasty brew, and a viable alternative to the peanut butter stouts which seem to be rising up quickly.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours deep brown color with a small creamy off-white head that reduces to a ring around the edge of the glass

S- aroma opens with fresh peanut butter cookies, followed by dark chocolate, peanut butter cup, caramel, vanilla cream & just a hint of roast, smells awesome

T- roasty, slightly charred malt up front gives flavors of dark chocolate, cocoa & caramel. Mid-palate gives earthy/herbal coffee, along with a hint of vanilla cream sweetness. Raisin and fig follow, the peanut note is very faint on the finish and doesn't pop until the linger

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp, slightly sweet finish

O- the peanut aroma was amazing, the flavor didn't quite follow the aroma, but still very tasty

From the 22 oz bottle in a snifter. This unique porter pours a muddy blackish
brown with a moderate head of light brown foam that subsides to a thick ring,
thin layer, and light lacing. Nose of light coffee, dark chocolate, char, and heavy
peanut butter. Flavors follow the nose with biting chocolate and bitter coffee
smacked hard by peanut butter and char. Nice mouth feel, moderately smooth
but somewhat heavy on the char making it overly bitter vying for dominance over
the peanut butter with light carbonation and a bitter char finish. Could use more
balance towards the silk porter....unique but not overwhelming other than the
excess of charred malts. Usually love Hoppin's brews, this one is a bit off the mark.

This one pours a nice dark black, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells like hazelnut coffee, sweet peanut butter, chocolate fudge, and roasted malt.

This is a really solid beer. The coffee is more dominant than the peanut butter. The peanut butter seems to add a slick and oily creaminess to this beer, and give off the impression of a nutty coffee roast, or even a hazelnut infused creamy coffee thing. There's a lot of chocolate, it's certainly fudgy and reminiscent of dark cacao.

This is medium bodied, pretty creamy and fluffy feeling, with a lower level of carbonation.

Haven't had too much from Hoppin' Frog lately, it's good to see that they can still crank out great dark beers.

Pours black with a densely creamy tan layer on top. Smells like coffee with cream and sugar, freshly roasted beans, peanut butter cups, and some dark roasted malts. Flavor is sweetened coffee roast, nutty/fruity notes, vanilla bean, and a dry layer of peanut butter. Pretty sweet, but not terribly heavy or overly cloying. Creamy, frothy medium body. A really tasty flavored porter.
