A: Pitch black color, no light gets through the beer when held up to the light. The look of the beer is "thick" which I find appealing for a stout and goes the a liquid meal standard. Head is minimal on a standard pour into a glass and would be nice if it could be a bite thicker.
-- Bottle is well designed and catches the eye when on a shelf. Bottle cap is a boring gold cap, probably one of my few critiques of the beer I have.

S: Great roasty/smokey smell with a rich malt. However, as the beer warms up, there is a distinct alcohol smell on the backend that can be appreciated

T: Fantastic, full bodied stout with roasted caramel/malt flavor and smokey flavors. Again as the beer warms, the high alcohol content can be appreciated.

M: Silky smooth through and through

O: One the best oatmeal stouts I have had to date. Highly recommended but if the taste of "liquor style alcohol" is turn off for you, make sure to keep the bottle chilled as you enjoy.

No date printed anywhere. No drink-by, no bottled-on, not even a year for the vintage. Very annoying. I'm gonna guess this was bottled at some point in 2012 because I purchased it in late 2012.

A: Super black with a nice, thick, dense, dark brown head that fades into some decent lace and retention. A very dark, viscous liquid.

S: Very charred and smoky nose. Almost metallic or soy sauce aromas but it's closer to earthy. A bit of chocolate to complement the heavily roasted malt. Not as strong as I expected.

T: Very smooth and creamy. You get the oatmeal in it right away. Dark, rich, roasty, malty goodness. Charred, smoked, earthy malts. As it warms up, chocolate flavors stand out as does some hot booze.

M: Great body to match the rich flavor. Creamy and just sweet enough to be noticeable and enjoyable. The oats really contribute to this beer. As it warms, it loses body and thickness. Is that normal? Too thin and watery at this point.

O: I can tell it's been in the bottle for a while because all the flavors seemed to have mellowed out to create a very delicious stout that does not overpower nor does it disappoint. Wait...now that it's warmed up significantly...it's lost a lot of the great flavors it had when it was sort of cold. Too boozy and has aromas and flavors of soy sauce and other acidic qualities. Too bad, really. Still enough stout in this beer to be alright, though.
