Drank at Cerveteca, Lisbon.

A: The body is opaque black with a minor beige to brown head that looks terribly well.
S: The aroma has three main characteristics, being the most findable an awesome smell of coffee that connects almost perfectly with the roasted malts. On top of this, a minor yeast aroma that's like a cherry on top.
T: This is my kind of beer, where the roasted malts make a great bridge with the heavy coffee tones and the sweetness of both come together. This, for me, is heaven.
M: Silk Porter is, obviously, silky with a medium to high body and with high density. Low bitterness to respect the initial sweetness and awesomely balanced.
O: I'm into stouts and porters that are coffee based. With that in mind I'm able to say that this beer represents me in craft beer. Thank you Hoppin' Frog.

22oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: Black and sheening. Head settles quickly. Thin and delicate rings of lacing.

S: Molasses and soft notes of char. Charcoal. Coffee beans. Roasty barley. Semi-sweet chocolate. Subtle earthy hop.

T: Molasses up front. Semi sweet chocolate chips. Woody and roasty flavors build to impressive heights. Dark roast coffee. Woody. Heavily roasted barley. Dark fruit notes of plum and Concord grape deep at its core. Subtle earthy hops. Long roasty finish.

M: Medium bodied. Full with a silky smooth, velvety texture. Ample carbonation provides a bit of lift.

O: I personally enjoyed this quite a bit. The nose is a little on the shy side, but in taste and feel it has everything you could want in an American Porter. As advertised, it is silky smooth in body. The great mouthfeel really makes it.

Lighter black than their stouts, to dark brown, with a dense smooth tan head.

Frog really knows how to achieve a roasty element to the beers. However this is a touch more mellow than their heavier dark beers. Coffee, cocoa powder, and raisin also come forward on the nose.

Taste and feel is as you might expect is silky roasted malt and chocolate syrup with a nuttiness that rounds it out. It's a pretty balanced brew that is able to take on other flavors really well, which is why it does great in tower infusions and is such a good base beer for the Cafe and Infusion A variants.

Deep, dark, nearly opaque mahogany brown and red body; dense, rich, rocky head. Full aroma of roasted grains and cocoa powder; chocolate; mild maraschino cherry fruitiness. Charred grain flavor; milk chocolate; bitter. Heavy and smooth mouthfeel; mostly sweet finish.

Big in dark malt and roasted grain flavor followed by a dry, somewhat astringent bitterness sums up this beer. Flavorful and velvety smooth with a mild overall harshness that keeps this from being a truly outstanding porter.
