Just above average. Has some BA taste, but in a run of the mill way. Really easy drinking with no stand out character. It's not bad, just boring.

12/17/17...thick black, no motion no foam, like spent motor oil. Heavy bourbon barrel nose, some coffee espresso mixed in. Whisky front taste, pungent, forward. Boozy. Light bodied espresso bitter stout lies beneath but takes a back seat. A sipper for certain.

Pours pitch black with a minimal tan head that faded quick. Light aromas of chocolate, vanilla, coffee, wet oak, and a touch of bourbon. The taste is were this beer starts to shine. Burnt coffee, dark fruits, cherries, fudge, vanilla, some oak, and mild bourbon. Finishes sweet. As it warmed more oak and smoke became present. ABV is hidden fairly well, but is a tad warming going down. Mouth feel is oily and slick. With a good amount of carbonation. Drinkably is surprisingly too easy for this barrel aged stout. Recommended!

A - Pours inky black with a thin tan head.
S - Aroma is mostly boozy.
T - Flavor is a little sweet, then black licorice with a boozy sting on finish.
M - Mouth feel is thick and chewy.
O - A big boozy sipper. I really like the licorice notes in this beer. I will definitely buy again.

Thanks to Joey for sharing this bomber at La Bella on Tuesday night.

BA BORIS poured an onyx hue with a quarter inch of head that didn't last too long, a thin mocha ring does sustain in the glass for a while.

Aromas of chocolate, whiskey, roasted barley, cocoa, toast, vanilla, and alcohol in the back. Hints of cherries and raisins soaked in alcohol.

The taste was a bit of an improvement from the aroma, not that the aroma was bad in any way. Initially there were flavors of coffee, chocolate, roasted barley, toast, vanilla, oak, dark chocolate malts, and cocoa. Very bold and full flavored. At times the oak tannins seemed a bit too much and tasted very "woody." Moderate carbonation which also at times I felt like it could be toned down a level to smooth out the beer and have a creamier texture. Semi-dry finish and surprisingly very easy to drink. I really enjoyed this one considering I wasn't a big fan of the regular BORIS.

22oz bottle into snifter. Batch 3, green cap, received in one of my very first trades a long time ago.

A: Pours black with a finger of dense and fluffy dark woody brown head that quickly faded into a thin film.
S: Very rich and complex nose. Roasted coconut, vanilla, and chocolate fudge stand out the most.
T: Follows the nose. I have not had this beer fresh but I can say that I’m glad I’ve waited so long to drink this. The flavors are very rich and thick. I get notes of vanilla, roasted coconut, chocolate, spicy whisky, and just a touch of sweet molasses and oak. The finish is lightly sweet and the aftertaste has very roasted flavors.
M: The alcohol is fairly muted but there is still a little bit of warmth to the finish. The body is very thick and fluffy and the mouthfeel is very decant and fluffy. Velvety carbonation.
O: This really impressed me. Like I said, I never had it fresh but this seems to have aged very nicely. I’m glad I put off drinking it for so long. Love the roasted coconut flavors. Thank you to the generous BA who sent me this ages ago.

Thanks to msubulldog25 for trading me this.

Poured in a big wine glass at 55F.

Black, with some dark tan froth, and a bit of finely patterned lace.

Aromas of roasted grain, cocoa, raisin, charred bourbon barrel, and deep caramelly bourbon and malt nicely married, with some vanilla. A bit reticent, but cohesive and good.

The flavor is sweeter than the aroma lets on. Massive sweet bourbon-malt-chocolate-cherry-raisin, soon joined by just enough roastiness to achieve reasonably good balance. A smidgen of citrusy hop flavor. Dries out somewhat in a long tasty finish, with some dry cocoa and earth joining up with the bourbon barrel.

Decadent, full, creamy texture. A pleasure to drink.

Pours a deep very dark brown, near black with a dark brown one finger head that faded quickly with spotty lacing.

Aroma of dark burnt malt, black coffee and whiskey.

Taste was initially dominated with whiskey then bold coffee, burnt malt and a slight hop finish.

Mouth Feel was medium leaning full body, light carbonation, a very nice alcohol warming and a slightly bitter after taste.

Overall this is a very nice bold oatmeal stout, my first Hoppin' Frog beer and will not be my last.
