Dark purple-tinted black with a thin finger of soupy mocha head that's quick to dissipate. It leaves a wisp across the top and a nice crown. Sloppy lacing.

Baker's chocolate, creamy dark chocolate, cherry cordial and some booze in the nose.

Hints of cherry, chocolate, almond, plum and vanilla are up front in the taste, somewhat masked by the strong alcohol burn. The backend comes across somehow watery; then bitter, powdered, low-quality chocolate, earthy hops, wood and hints of the fruit and almond linger in the aftertaste.

Feel is on the thin side of medium bodied.

Honestly, I was expecting better. The body isn't full enough to my preference. More so, the combo of powdery chocolate and fruity, almond isn't my thing. It's bitter and cloying at the same time. People rave about this one, but IMO, it's about as polished as the label.

12/17/17...thick black, no motion no foam, like spent motor oil. Heavy bourbon barrel nose, some coffee espresso mixed in. Whisky front taste, pungent, forward. Boozy. Light bodied espresso bitter stout lies beneath but takes a back seat. A sipper for certain.

Poured into a snifter. Deep opaque brown color with a modest dark tan head. Scant lacing in the glass. Milk chocolate, vanilla, oak, and bourbon on the nose. Tasted as expected - very chocolatey with some roasted malt and bourbon. The bourbon was well integrated and not overpowering. A slick, soft feel. Easy to drink.

22oz bottle served in a snifter. Given to me by @mr-jj. Don't see a date.

Pours black, thick, almost no head, and what little head there is is brownish. Smell is chocolate, roast, and coffee.

Taste is surprisingly mild. It's like a light bourbon barrel aged stout -- flavors are all there, but not really popping out at me. Vanilla, chocolate, coffee, booze and bourbon, wood.

Mouthfeel is not "light" however. Thick, rich, and pleasing. Overall, good beer.

A - Jet black, little head
S - Definitely boozy, fantastic notes of vanilla, roasted malt, light chocolate
T - same as, the nose, very smooth with little booze bite
M - super thick and chewy. Coats the mouth.
O - fantastic. It's not the best barrel aged RIS, but still one that I will seek out when available.
