No bottling date to be found. Served chilled in a snifter

Appearance: deep and dark brown with a creamy coffee colored head

Nose: chocolate, coffee, oaky, light Barrel character, cinnamon, nutmeg, roast, graham cracker, tobacco, dark fruits, raisins, smells spiced

Taste: alcohol heat, whiskey, dark chocolate, coffee, roast, char, Barrel character, follows the nose with a fruity finish. Bitter tannins in the finish. Lingering astringency in the finish. Heavy mouthfeel from the oats

Overall: wow this was amazing. I really liked the spics nose. Unusual to get cinnamon and nutmeg in there. DORIS was amazing and this one is great too.

This one was really surprising. I didn't think this was going to be much, but was very surprised. Lots of barrel and good adjuncts throughout and on the finish. Nice boozing said, but not overpowering.

The beer pours a nice chocolate brown head that dissipates rather quickly and doesn't leave very much. The beer itself is a very nice dark chocolate black with a bit of an oily sheen to it.

The smell is pretty good. It has a nice mix of the whiskey and the chocolate notes and a bit of creamy oatmeal notes. The whiskey gives the beer a nice spice to it. The roasted malts are there with a bit of coffee supplementing the other notes. The smell has an ever present vanilla note that is a bit subtle but still there.

The taste is very good. The whiskey seems to be the most present note that is noticeable. The dark chocolate and roasted malt notes mix very well with the creamy oatmeal to create a fairly delicious mixture. The whiskey lingers a bit afterwards, which isn't a bad thing. The taste also has that subtle vanilla note but is a bit more strong.

The feel is pretty good. It is a heavy bodied beer that is very creamy and borders on silky. The carbonation is light and noticeable but adds to the silkiness of the beer.

Overall, a very good beer and worthy of being consumed. The beer isn't too taxing for something that's been barrel aged and has nice, vivid notes. The notes in the smell and taste tend to blend together fairly well but manage to remain distinct enough that you can tell them apart. This one is definitely worth picking up if you come across it.

Hoppin Frog Barrel Aged BORIS on tap. I liked the frog, particularly the tap handle - a frog. A bit bourbon forward, some coffee, but overall excellent. Weirdest thing happened just after I got my beer - there was a huge bang and the building really shook, like it dropped several inches. We all thought someone had crashed a car into the building, but when we went outside to see what it was, could not figure it out, went back to drinking. Later news stories indicated a tectonic plate shift or a meteor exploding in the atmosphere. A friend of mine felt and heard the same thing at his house 4 miles away.

Tasty. A bit bitter, but flavorful to an indistinguishable degree.

A: Super dark body, small chocolate head even with an aggressive pour. Head dies out quickly with little lacing.
S: Whiskey is definitely present, but it is entertwined with a malty sweetness. My mouth is watering, so I think we're good here.
T: Follows the nose, with hints of vanilla. Whiskey lingers on the tongue with a slight burn
F: Nice thickness to the feel here, goes down surprisingly smooth.
O: Solid beer here. Not best in class for the style, but solidly above average. It is worth noting that I so want to dock them points for logo here as it had me convinced that there wouldn't be a good beer within. Learn from my mistake; this is one beer you don't want to judge by its cover.
