22oz bottle

A- Poured into a snifter. Pours a slightly hazy dark brownish color with orange hues and an off-white head that quickly turns into a thin ring of lace around the glass.

S- The aroma is dominated by the whiskey barrels from the barrel aging with some pumpkin spices in the background.

T- The taste like the aroma is mostly whiskey and oak flavors from the barrel aging with a sourness in the finish and just a hint of spices.

M- The mouthfeel is between light and medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation.

O- Overall, not a bad offering from Hoppin Frog. This one got better as it warmed in the glass.

A-Pretty Dark for a pumpkin ale

S-Pumpkin, spices, oak barrell bourbon...

T-Again a lot of smell but not a lot of taste. The pumpkin is there, but only in smell, otherwise another beer that claims "pumpkin" but is really a bourbon barrel stout.

M-Medium bodied.

O-i like bourbon and i like stout so this one was pretty good, but only in the sense of it being bourbon barrel, not pumpkin.

22oz bottle from Luekens (Dunedin, FL). 16.99. No bottling date. Served in a Southern Tier Pumpking goblet.

Pours hazy orange amber with a half finger of pale, off white head. Retains a nice thin cap that leave nice islands of lace.

Aromas of spiced pumpkin pie and whiskey. Enticing.

Big whiskey and barrel flavors up front followed by raw pumpkin, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, brown sugar, vanilla and oak with a spicy booze bite. Strong, vibrant whiskey-glazed pumpkin pie.

Soft medium body with moderate carbonation. Spirits and spiced gourd linger in the finish.

I like the added complexity of the whiskey barrels to an already well above average brew. The barrel character is ever present without masking the base beer. An easily drinkable, enjoyable variant that I'm really glad to have tried. Unfortunately, much like Hoppin Frog's other barreled offerings, price will most likely prevent many repeat performances.

A-Clear deep amber. One finger head that doesn't last long.

S-Pumpkin, spices, oak and slight bourbon, really well balanced.

T-The balance in the taste is no where near the nose. It starts with pumpkin then spice. The finish is oak and bourbon. But the balance isn't were it should be.

M-Medium bodied, some carbonation but watery.

O-First pumpkin beer aged in bourbon barrels. It could work. The balance here was off but it had some potential.

Pours a hazed orange color with white soapy froth. Aroma of pumpkin pie spice with a hint of sweet bourbon. In the taste, nice pumpkin pie flavor of pumpkin, spice and vanilla. The bourbon contributes a vanilla sweetness to the brew. Nice blend of spices. Medium bodied brew with a smooth medium carbonation. Overall, this was a treat.
