Poured from a 22oz bomber into a pint glass. Pours black with minimal head. Smell of black Light roast coffee with a similar taste that lingers. Very smooth and drinkable.

Dark brown body with big thick tan head
Full on fresh ground just brewed
Silky smooth coffee taste with a hint of chocolate mousse
slightly thin for the abv & full on taste

With a 4 finger, creamy mocha head, Cafe Silk pours with some dark carbonation, blackish with brown and burnt red edges.

Chocolatey coffee aromas waft off increasingly powerful waves--this is a true mocha experience. A sort of drying aroma of roasted walnut follows up as well.

Smooth roasty malts and dry roasted coffee flavors come in with just enough sweet chocolate to complement and bring that mocha element.

As with the base brew, calling this Silk is right on the mark. While it's a bit thinner than BORIS, it's more substantial than most porters, and extremely flavorful. Assisted by being one of the lower ABV brews by Frog, this is just downright chuggable.

Dark brown, nearly black body; thick, foamy, light brown head. Strong coffee aroma; charred grain; chocolate notes. Big coffee flavors; milk chocolate; slowly building yet lingering bitterness and touch of astringency. Mouthfeel is mostly heavy with a bittersweet finish, smooth on the palate.

Coffee-forward initial impressions that slip into a mostly rich and chocolaty tasting. Big and complex and some interesting depth make for a very enjoyable porter tasting experience.

22 oz. bottle poured into snifter.
Look - Oily black/brown. minimal lacing. Light brown head settles to a thin ring around the glass.
Smell - Coffee, hint of chocolate.
Taste - Roasted grains and coffee. Milk chocolate sweetness.
Feel - Lightly carbonated. Silky smooth. Latte feel to it.
Overall - Totally enjoyable porter. A treat in the morning with breakfast or a dessert beer. I am so glad to have finally tried a Hoppin' Frog beer. I'll be back for more.

I'm not sure if I have tried enough Hoppin Frogs, so I am setting out to remedy that. What a nice way to start.

It opens a quality brew, with nice head (a bubble sat on the top of the bottle for two minutes), and great lacing.

The aroma is pungent. There is coffee there, but there also is hops feel to it like a bag of reefer. This comes through in the taste too. Beyond just coffee porter is a pungent hops tang (akthough not much bitterness).

The aftertaste is a fleeting twang. Overall this brew is great, but I wish they had take it a notch higher, and I see other bombers in the store, so maybe they did.
