Michigan Peddler is pretty much the only place (that I know of) on Mackinac Island where a person can purchase regional craft beer in bottles. Getting there is both simple and difficult. You have to take a ferry to the island, but after you are there it is located on the main drag and is easily accessible on foot or bike.

The store is devoted to items made in and around Michigan, including beer and wine. The beer is located in the back corner of the store. There are both singles and six-packs available from brewers such as Atwater, Dark Horse, Michigan Brewing, Great Lakes, and Bell's. Prices are higher than on the mainland, but that is pretty much true for anything you buy on the island.

Service here is good. The proprietor may not be a beer expert but she is passionate about local artisans. My one ding is that some of the beers were sitting long enough to have a layer of dust on them. Luckily though none of them appear to have been affected negatively (yet).

Despite its shortcomings I am glad this store is there because it is the only place to grab some beers to take back to your hotel. Worth stopping in if you visit Mackinac Island.
