Bottle.

A: Moderately malt with delicate, floral and slightly spicy Saaz hops.

A: Golden color, totally clear with a moderate white even head that has adequate retention with some light lacing in the glass.

T: Moderate maltiness with spicy and moderately bitter hops that are prominent, but not overwhelming which linger through the finish.

M: Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation. Soft mouthfeel from the water used.

O: Solid; I prefer the dark lager over their classic pilsner. While tasty this beer is super delicate and does not always make it to California intact.

I drank beers from this brewery a lot when I was in Prague and I was amazed by how good they were and how amazingly low priced also. This “imperial” pilsener (the 5% is only a little bit above average) pours a copper color with a fairly thin white head that leaves a nice lacing, but quickly dissipates. The smell is very mild, but there is a slight malt and yeast presence and a little hint of alcohol also. The first thing that you realize about this beer upon drinking it is that it is surprisingly a solid medium bodied beer, which is unexpected given the lightness of the color. This higher body really plays to my tastes, but may not be well accepted by pilsener purists. There are some nice bready malt flavors, some yeast flavor, and a very mild fruitiness of apple followed by a hint of alcohol and a mild hop bitterness. This is a pretty unique and well balanced beer that reminds you of harvest time and goes great with the hearty Czech food. It’s definitely not as good out of the bottle as I remember it on tap, but it’s still pretty solid. It is fairly poorly rated on though, so I guess this is one case I don’t totally agree with. It may very well be that the flavor doesn’t hold up well when exported to the US.

500ml bottle poured into Sam Adams pint glass.

Pours a clear honey yellow with one skinny finger of off-white head that leaves a thick spider's web of lace as it recedes.

Smells of grainy pale malt, lemon zest, cut grass and leafy Saaz hops.

Tastes of unsalted cracker pale malt, dinner bun, faint sharp citrus and more grassy green nobel hops.

Feels light and creamy. Light bodied with finely frothy carbonation. Finishes dry.

Verdict: Recommended. Light and refreshing.

Saw 16.9 oz. bottles of this at a local beverage store for $1.99, so I decided to give this a shot. Poured into one of my pokal glasses, this beer pours a clear, medium golden color with a fluffy looking, white head that's initially an inch or so thick when first poured. Settles pretty quickly to a medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass along with decent lacing. Aromas of crisp malts and some earthy, floral, grassy hops. Has a nice, mildly sweet malt presence along with a hint of honey that gives way to a bit of a grassy flavor that is rounded out with a somewhat earthy and floral hop bitterness. Very good balance of flavors here. Has a crisp, yet smooth, slightly prickly, medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish with a slightly dry and lingering bitterness. A solid beer here all around.

Pours gold, less pale than I would expect from a pilsner. Off white head on this pour. Good crackery and saaz-y aroma. The flavor is unfortunately not what I want from a pilsner. There is bitterness, but not that distinct spicy herbalness that comes from saaz. The bitterness is a little muddled. There seems to be an off flavor that hurts its crispness/refreshingness. Not a huge fan of this pilsner.

I purchased a bottle of Krušovice Imperial for $2.79 USD in Los Angeles, CA/USA.
Look: Krušovice Imperial has light foam.
Smell: Krušovice Imperial has the aroma of both metal and wheat.
Taste: Krušovice Imperial has an ironic mix of flavours consisting of both metal and wheat.
Feel: Krušovice Imperial had the feeling of well carbonated drinking water.
Overall: People who seek a beverage that tastes of both metal and wheat will enjoy Krušovice Imperial.

Pours a nice golden color with a moderate head. However, the lace retention is not so good as it disappears entirely halfway through.
A grassy, malt and hops aroma. Towards the end of the drink there is a slight sweet and alcohol quality.
I was actually impressed by the taste at first. I was hit with a bold hop and herbal flavor. However, the finish left a bitter and burnt lingering after taste that was not pleasant. Maybe it was skunked or not fresh? Pretty disappointing.

Pours clear deep golden with excellent white head, nice retention. Aroma of grains and dough, simple, but fresh. Taste is bland and malty with some definite bitter finish, Heineken killed Krusovice, GTFO. Neither character, no individuality.

On tap, poured into a stein. The aroma is sweet lemon, muffin dough, a hint of spice, a mild light honey, and a touch of barnyard. The beer is a clear, brilliant gold with a white, light foam head that has okay retention and light lace. The taste is a medium bitter and light sweet. It's oily and waxy with a fizzy carbonation and a light body. Flavors of cornbread, minerals, and dough are noted with a finish that's crisp and clean with a light spice. The aftertaste is cloying with waxy bitter stone fruit and minerals.

Format: a standard 330mL brown bottle with a pretty standard Euro macro label.

Appearance: looks like a cheap lager too. No head either

Aroma: smells of sweet malts and a touch of hops. A bit cheap.

Taste: tastes like it smells. A fairly poor-quality Euro lager.

Aftertaste: lingers for a short period before fading. Fair for a lager.

Mouth feel: moderate in body with a moderate carbonation. Feels a bit flat.

Overall: there are better lager / pilsner beers available in this price range. I don't think I'll be bothering with this one again.

Bottled on Feb 10 2014, this pilsener poured a nice, radiant amber color with lots of carbonation that continued to rise to the top. The head of the beer came out as slightly thick, but dissipated rapidly.

Very light to drink, not a bad initial impression, somewhat sweet and hoppy but finishes with notes of bitterness. Overall not bad, especially at 16.9 ounces, but not something I'd personally go running back to.

It's been seven long years since I last tried a beer from the Imperial Brewery. This time, I have decided to change color, going from the low alcohol dark beer to the mild alcohol pilsner. From a 500 ml foil-wrapped bottle, on to the beer:

This beer starts off with a great intro. A bright golden body, lifted with lively bubbles from bottom to top, and a thick creamy head which retains well. The aroma offers a slight note of diacetyl, and also offering notes of crisp grass and a kiss of honey.

Pilsner is pilsner, right. Not here, as this Czech Pilsner offers many little subtleties which give this beer a character above the pack. Little notes include grass, honeysuckle, the pleasant Saaz hop bitterness, and a note of diacetyl. The flavor overall is soft yet pleasing, and its softness continues into its mouthfeel, which is note only soft, but light. And a half-liter? That won't be enough, and I'm not dying of thirst here.

I certainly don't expect an imported lager to have the same freshness as it does in its home country. That said, I was very surprise with what I got out of Krušovice Imperial. I'll be returning to this Czech beer, but I guarantee that it will be within seven years.

This was a very fresh beer, it had been bottled less than a month ago.
Nice choppy head which diminished slowly and left nice lacing. It was a deep golden brass color.
It smelled sweet and malty with a slight grassy hoppy under tone
Taste went from a sharp clean hop bitterness to a full malty round mouth feel, but then finished dry and a little harsh.
This is a nice beer in its look and aroma. It is unfortunate that although it started well it finished rather harshly which really unbalanced the beer and sullied what was a very promising Czech Pilsner.

Poured from a brown 16.9 oz. bottle. Has a rich golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is grassy, malty, some sweetness. Taste is crisp, grassy hops, some malts, a bit dry at the finish, not quite as flavorful as the smell would have indicated. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

bottled on 11.11.2013

Appearance - clear golden body with white head

Smell - grass, buttered biscuit, grain, slight amount of honey sweetness

Taste - grass, herbs, buttered biscuits, grains, that hint of honey sweetness

Mouthfeel - lighter end of the medium bodied spectrum, medium carbonation, crisp, clean, smooth finish, decent amount of hop bite on the tail end of the finish

Overall - very crisp and clean, unobtrusive beverage that I found to be refreshing. Perfect for when you need that post yard work re-hydration. Would love to try this fresh on tap.

Price Point - $2.50/16.9 oz bottle

Bottled 12/11/13.

Pours a clear golden orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of intense skunk that eventually dissipates somewhat, malt, grain, and grass aromas. Taste is much the same with grain and grass flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable, but the initial skunk aroma coming from the bottle is quite potent and never quite goes away.

Random buy from Bevmo. Poured into a pilsner glass.

A: Aggressive pour leads to two fingers bleached head. Beer is a fairly rich golden. Good amount of carbonation, racing to the surface. Moderate to good head retention. Moderate lacing. Looks good so far.

S: Crackery malts. Slightly salty. Very grassy and slightly floral. Noble hops, but not overly powerful. Nice balance.

T: Muted a bit in the flavor. Green grape on the end. Has a strange astringent streak that runs through in the end. Synthetic, plastic flavor. Very, very dry. Displeasingly dry, almost. Malt just falls out and the strange synthetic flavor dominates from the mid point on. Splashes of diacetyl and a strange, overbearing bitterness on the aftertaste.

M: Very dry. Vigorously carbonated, but not overly so. Enjoyable.

O: Very good in every category except the one that truly counts; taste! Looks great, smells great, feels great, tastes...I don't know how to describe it. It's like an astringent plastic. Bad bottle, maybe? Everything else was so good.

The beer comes in a dark amber color with a fluffy white head.

The aroma has lager yeast, a spicy hop quality, a grainy quality.

The flavor is very spicy in the front of pepper and herbal qualities. Green grass throughout with drying qualities on the back. There’s a bit of sweetness in the middle along with a touch of a bready malt.

The back carries much drying and hints of herbal and grassy bitterness.

A decent representation of the style, but I imagine that this bottle being 6 months old has caused it to lose some of hop qualities.

Krušovice Imperial 12° has a medium, soapy, slightly off-white head, a mostly clear, amber appearance, bubble streams, and some splotchy lacing left on the sides of the glass. The aroma is of dank, somewhat turned, pungent barley malt, and hop oil. Taste is of sweet, bready malt, grassy hops, and a touch of hop extract, I think. Mouthfeel is medium and oily, and Krušovice Imperial 12° finishes semi-dry, easy drinking, a bit filling, and terrifically good. Overall, I love it!

Golden yellow body topped with a thick, chunky, creamy white head. Lightly toasted malt grain and somewhat grassy smell. Grainy flavor with a smooth hop bitterness at the finish. Light and smooth body; crisp, clean, dry finish.

Krušovice doesn't break any new ground for the style yet is certainly quite drinkable and solid representation of the style.

500ml bottle:

The beer poured clear, darker amber/golden color that produced a big, slightly off white head that faded quickly into thin cap. The beer gave off a nice lager aroma, sweet malt and yeast. The taste of the beer was malty sweet as well, but also had a syrup quality to it, which was very unexpected. This contributed to the lesser feel rating. With that said, the beer was still rather smooth. I really wanted to like this beer. Maybe it just didn't travel well or maybe it was old. I am willing to give this one another shot as I am really into the style.

Poured from a 16.9oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a short foamy white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains lager yeast, light caramelized malts, a good amount of hops and some honey.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of lager yeast and a thin malt character. Then a mild but odd hops bitterness bite comes in. There is very little sweetness and not much balance. The after-taste is bready and slightly bitter.

M: Crisp and but not very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.

O: Not very tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, there are definitely other beers in the style that I would pick first.
