Had on draft in Prague. Pours clear, gold in color with one inch head. Taste is grass and pilsner malt. Medium bodied and carbonation, slightly bitter. Exceptionally clean. Could have several.

I drank many pints of this during my stay in Prague, and though it wasn't my favorite Czech Pilsner it was pretty tasty. Pours pale with a nice sticky 2 fingered head, smells of yeast, pilsner malt and Czech Saaz. Tastes creamy, with a nice spice from the hops, and great balance from the malts. Finishes dry and a little astringent, I would have loved to try this back in the day before it was filtered and force carbonated. A nice beer, but the finish just kind of ruined it for me.

500ml bottle purchased and consumed in Prague. Best by date: 29 Nov. 2011. This bottle is marked "ole puvodni receptury" and is a return to an older recipe {"Chutnají jako tenkrát"}; it is apparently also a different recipe than that used for export.

Pours a hazy golden amber with a substantial off-white head.

Has a good malt/hop balance, with a bit of bitterness and a lasting hoppy finish. It has a crisp mouthfeel with a slightly dry finish. Above average carbonation.

O - More bitter and flavorful than average, this is a fine choice among widely available Czech lagers.

I worry about the future of Krusovice now that this historically fine brewery is owned by Heineken, but this revised version may put such worries to rest.

A: The beer is clear dark amber in color and poured with a two finger high off white head that took a long time to fade away. No carbonation is visible.
S: There are aromas of chocolate malts and sugar in the nose, along with some hints of alcohol.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of dark malts and bitter coffee as well as some hints of chocolate malt. Sugary flavors stand out in the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a light amount of carbonation.
D: The beer isn't that difficult to drink but I wouldn't' have more than one fo these given the amount of sweetness.

Beer bottle (50cl), tasted in 2000 (in Prague).
Appearance : Light gold color, with white foam head.
Smell : Malty and grassy aromas.
Taste and mouthfeel : strong malt and hop character, mild hop finish.
Drinkability : a refreshing beer in the Pale lager style.

I had this beer several times on tap in Prague, last time at a pub on the Charles River (the first in a bar at the castle where it was originally brewed). I tasted it previously in bottles, but the fresh Czech tap was clearly superior. The head was magnificent, if a bit too big to accommodate the 0,5 L standard mark on the glass, which was, I must say, one of the most beautiful beer glasses I had ever seen (a Krusovice glass; their bottles are similarly spectacular). The flavor is a wonderful classic pilsner, emminently drinkable, wonderful with Czech food, and it is now classified as one of my all-time favorites. Unfortunately, the Prague on-tap experience is not available outside the Czech Republic, as the bottled variety is not much worth speaking about.

Spicy citrus hops and slightly metallic nose. Smooth creamy mouthfeel with more floral than citric hop quality, though slightly tangy. A bit more than a mild, lingering bitterness, this will appeal to those who like their hops with a bitter bite. Malts are biscuity and bready, and body is medium here . . . seems a bit heavy for a pale lager. I like it - a good beer to add to my Pils-loving summer drinking list.

Pretty easy to drink. But probably the thinnest Czeck lager/pils, in terms of flavour, i've ever had. Pretty easy to drink, but at least theres some light lemony flowery saaz, but its very faint. Not at all interesting, which is why it scores so low on 'drinkability', very boring, a perhaps my least favourite Czeck beer.
