25 cl pour in a Wittekirke glass at La Trappe in San Francisco, CA.

Appearance: Pale cloudy golden yellow, dense white head upon pouring, slowly dying back to a 1/8" think foam across the top. Lots of lacing all over the glass.

Smell: Very light. Slightly musty with a hint of grain. Pleasant, but mild.

Taste: Very clean and quite refreshing. Wheat tang present but balanced with with other malt sweetness. Lemon and other spice flavor at the finish.

Mouthfeel: Good carbonation. Scrubs the tongue clean like a witbier should, but not fizzy. Nice thickness underneath the carbonation.

Overall / Drinkability: Solidly above average Witbier. Tasty, very drinkable. I could have had another easily, but I was seduced by all the other beers on the menu. I can imagine this would be quite good with food. Only the aroma was a letdown.

I love beer, i got to know the bartenders pretty well at my go to pub and one of them suggested Blanche to me...I immediately fell in love...hands down my favorite beer. No matter what time of year hot or cold climate...i've only ever had this beer on tap but would love to try it other ways...I highly suggest also trying this beer with a shot of a Strawberry Lambic...sooo good!!!!

Sampled this a few times over the years, but never had full glass...

For a wit, the look is blandish - very pale, silky beige color, fairly hazy - scummy/pellicle-like, eggshell-white head and cap with decent sticky lacing.

A fresh scent - nice, but sort of weak - lemon-lime, peppercorns and grapefruit - not much coriander - a fair amount of malt in the balance, but it too is weak

The taste follows the aromas - grapefruit n' creme - malty (light malts) - overall, fairly distinct for the style - vague herbal (chamomile?) flavor - not tart in the least

The thing that I enjoy, but also throws me off is how creamy it is - medium-bodied, pretty soft-smooth (oats?), very nice - packs a little bubble in the finish

Manakin pis is actually pretty good - nice and light - more of a hot weather beverage, though

It has an unexpected pale yellow color and cloudiness from the high level of wheat used. The bitter orange added during brewing comes across nicely balanced. This is a good beer as a break from all the heavier winter beers while still being appropriate for the season.
