Imperial dominates Costa Rica. If you spend any amount of time driving through the country you will see the Imperial Eagle on everywhere. Even the smallest bodega will sell this stuff. Imperial Silver is the higher quality verson of Imperial, something akin to a Corona. Silver is best enjoyed on the beach while enjoying some of the mouth watering seafood available in the country. Silver is no craft beer but it is an amazing beer on the cheaper side of things

Bought in Playa Grande, Costa Rica and consumed from the 710mL can. This beer is a worse version of the regular Imperial. It has less taste and somehow a worse smell. I would stick to the regular Imperial when drinking the big brands in Costa Rica. This one is best avoided.

The standard Imperial strikes me as being very similar to Corona Familiar. Sticking to that same formula, Imperial Silver is strikingly similar to Corona Extra. It's a good beer if youre wading around a pool in Costa Rica in 90-degree heat and goes good with a lime wedge but outside of that, its not winning any awards. It is what it is. 4.5% not an amazing offering but it'll get the job done if youre looking for a session. Its a little sweet, kind of heavy on the carbonation and gives off little no to smell

Poured from 12oz can into pint glass
A 2" fluffy white head drops quickly with moderate spider web lacing. Color is clear pale straw with some small sediment in suspension. Aroma of mild toasted malts and a hint of citrus. Flavor follows with pleasant malt sweetness and a bit of hops for balance.

the worst of the worst i had in costa rica, and i did my best to try them all, although i did miss the rock ice brands, which are apparently of lower quality still, hard to imagine... if the clear bottles dont turn you off already as a beer person, it wont take long before the liquid will. this poured almost entirely flat, oddly thick for what it is, and with that metallic adjunct low carb thing going on, nothing clean or crisp about it to me. there is more sweetness here than in the other imperial brands too, an almost red apple juice sort of quality, a little light struck skunkiness to it, and none of the snappy yeast flavor that can be detected in the regular imperial. instead its sweet and cheap tasting, and the mouthfeel is entirely flat, which is the cardinal sin of hot weather macro lager, dont do that to me! in the end i choked down one and only one of these during my time in costa rica, and it was appalling, probably the worst beer you can find down there, and certainly the most useless in this family of brands. dont waste your time, this was garbage, even by adjunct lager standards...

Slightly lighter, crisper version of the ubiquitous Imperial lager that dominates Costa Rica. Fizzy yellow beer, bright white head fizzes up and settles quickly. Slight scent of generic hop and grainy corn sweetness. Taste is much the same, nothing remarkable or surprising. A decent macrobrew to chug on a hot day.

350 ml can poured into a tumbler.
A- Straw, slightly darker than the regular Imperial. Head white, retention poor.
S- Sweeter aroma than regular. Maybe a little yeasty. Still really grainy.
T- A little sweeter, maltier. But still mostly grainy in flavor.
M- This one is a little more crisp, but still wet. Clean.
O- Subtly different than normal Imperial. Maybe a little more flavor, sweeter.

12 oz clear bottle in San Jose, CR. Pours pale straw with tall, long lasting, fluffy, white head and lively carbonation. Nose is of slight hops and pale malt. Body is light and smooth. Taste is barely noticeable. Finish is short, barely noticeable. Beer to avoid.
