Appearance - The beer was deep black in color with little noted carbonation.

Smell - The beer radiated a full fantastic vanilla nose.

Taste - At the front, a well balanced vanilla presence was noted. Smooth vanilla was complimented by chocolate cookies. Burnt sugar and toasted malts were balanced by the smoothness of honey. The alcohol is well masked.

Mouthfeel - Even beyond the vanilla, the feel is so smooth.

Overall - This beer is well balanced example of a vanilla stout; the vanilla is neither artificial or overpowering.

Gret vanilla flavor, honey is there but not much. Good balance. The vanilla provides a great sweet flavor that is not artificial or overpowering. A great beer.

Bomber bottle that looks like the newer relabeled/redesigned BART. What indicates this as being the vanilla version (this older batch anyway) is a hand written golden V drawn on the lower left of the label. Poured into a fifty fifty snifter, the brew appears a very dark cola brown to black with a firm khaki head.

Its smells earthy with roast almost leaning towards nutty with some raisony appeal and mild milk chocolate. It tastes sweet with sticky vanilla bean, chocolate, raison and earth overtop mild booziness across the finish.

This is full bodied and modestly carbonated. Some pretty decent stuff that is much better than normal BART. The vanill bean inclusion was really enjoyable.

Pours out looking like bart, no noticeable difference between this and the regular bart. Great aroma, love it, bourbon and vanilla and honey.

Taste, nice and sweet, covers alcohol heat so well, bourbon barrel is less in the background. Diabeetus jokes insert here. Holds a middle of the road maltiness that tempers the vanilla so well. The mouth feel is insane how easy drinking it is. So much smoothness from the vanilla. Can't be understated. Alcohol so hidden. Some mild nuttiness with it too.

A: poured into a snifter to a black beer with a small light tan head that is quick to fade to a small collar
S: smells of roasted malts, toffee, caramel and a lot of vanilla
T: taste is vanilla, roasted malts, caramel sweetness, and a little oak. Swallow is more vanilla and oak with some nice whiskey flavor, caramel and roasted malts with hints of dark chocolate.
M: Surprisingly thin for the ABV and style with a medium mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Fairly neutral finish that's a little bit drying.
O: Absolutely delicious. this beer has a ton of complexity and is silly drinkable at 12%. The flavors are great and the vanilla adds a nice additional dimension to the flavor profile of the base beer and barrel aging.

Bottle.

A: Lots of vanilla, grain sweetness and roast, along with some wood presence.

A: Black color, totally opaque with a thick off-white head that has strong retention. Some lacing evident in the glass.

T: Huge vanilla – marshmallow-like initial flavor that gives way to a complimentary grain chocoatey roast with light barrel notes. The beer has a very little roast bitterness.

M: Full bodied with moderate carbonation. The beer isn’t super thick and drinks pretty easily.

O: Very tasty; the vanilla, marshmallow-like flavor with supporting roast compliments quite well. Very interesting blend (barley wine/oatmeal stout). I first saw this beer at Toronado's Barleywine Fest some years ago and still quite tasty!

Super duper pronounced vanilla. It's big vanilla, hard to taste anything else and I'm perfectly ok with that. The honey is noticeable but faint compared to the nilla. Aromas of dark rich fruit, dates/beats. Only letdown is the slightly thin mouthfeel, but this is an amazing beer. Enjoy the flavors and let it warm up - just great!
