Style: American Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 12.00%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
A much anticipated release, with some really entertaining PR building up to it. The bottom line is, this isn’t a train, and there’s nothing “Rapid” about it. A delicious blend of our Imperial Stout and Barleywine, barrel aged for over 100 days, and then infused with some locally roasted coffee. It pours dark brown with a tan head, and has a nice dark roast coffee aroma complimented with hints of caramel. The taste is smooth dark roast coffee, strong bourbon oak, toffee, and vanilla, with bitter notes and alcohol warmth coming through on the finish.

Fifty Fifty does it again with another phenomenal barrel aged offering. Pitch black body with a dense tan head but not big or fluffy. Aroma absolutely knocks it out of the park. In your face coffee with a nice dose of bourbon barrel to balance it out.

First impressions and it reminds me of some other very well regarded coffee barrel beers like Bourbon county and KBS. Rich dark coffee notes and slightly sweet and woody barrel flavors. Not as roasty as many, perhaps due to the barleywine mixed it but still enough to keep things interesting. Body lacks a little bit with the feel, but overall, this beer is a definite winner.

Pours black with dark mahogany edges. Aroma of oak, vanilla, whiskey, espresso, dark chocolate. Up front there's a wave of sweet malt and milk chocolate giving way to slight whiskey, oak, dark chocolate and light coffee. Creamy thick mouthfeel.

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep black topped by a finger of dense tan head that fades quickly and leaves minimal lacing
S: smells of coffee, roasted malts and whiskey
T: taste is decadent coffee, some roasted malt, a little vanilla, some oak, a touch of caramel, and bitter dark chocolate. swallow is roasted malts, coffee and chocolate with a whiskey barrel flavored finish
M: I figured this would be fuller on the palate but it sits at the higher end of medium. Carbonation is soft but perfect. Finish is a little drying.
O: This is an aptly named beer. Great coffee flavors and really damn tasty. ABV is up there but it drinks pretty well. FiftyFifty almost always pleases with their BA offerings and this one is no exception.

Has a substantially brown look to it with a tan head that is whispfully thin. Aroma was nice, bourbon and coffee, coffee not face busting pungent but very good, integrated.

Taste, more coffee than the aroma, bart always solid in itself does well as a base. Man I hope they make a bunch more of this. Some elite tier barrel aged barleywine here.

Mild brown appearance and a thin beige head, 1/8" on the top. Enjoyed while camping up between Tillamook and Hillsboro, cool Summer of 2015 trip with elrogish, visiting de garde and the Hops baseball team.

Aroma was bad ass, coffee and bourbon melding oh so well. Reminiscient of mash & grind, another excellent coffee barleywine aged in bourbon barrels. So rich and so clean.

Taste, phenomenal, not hot, coffee is pungent, bourbon is complimentary. Not a ton of toffee and caramel, not heavy or viscous, really in the right amount I'd have to say. Excellent mouthfeel, slick, easy, goes down pretty fast.
