Look: Almost black with a red ring a around the top and bottom. Almost a 1/4 inch tan head with no retention

Smell: Coffee and chocolate and a nice roasted malt smell

Taste: Very nice coffee notes not too much but just the right amount. Hints of chocolate and caramel

Mouthfeel: Buttery and silky. Medium body and medium carbonation levels

Overall: Very nice porter. Very nice and enjoyable flavors. This is my first beer by fifty/fifty brewing company and I am quite impressed. I also have a growler of the totality stout and I cant wait to crack it open

Man I've been having this beer for what seems like almost 20 years now. Can't believe I haven't reviewed it here yet. Anyways, this is similar to the Totality stout with just a little more finesse and lighter prowess to it. Similar to Totality (on a much smaller scale) they've used this as a base beer for barrel aging and it works there as well. Anyways, this beer, pours a dark brown with a lighter brown head, 2/3" deep. Aroma is big on the roasted malt as a porter (American) should be. Decent C (chinook/cascade?) hop presence.

Taste follows the nose, roasted malt and C hop bitterness without being excessive. Good mouth feel, strong sturdy malt body that doesn't delve into sludge tar territory. In a world of double digit abv extremity, this is one of those porters you wouldn't mind putting 2 pints down on a cold late fall evening. Its astringent from both roastiness and hoppiness, but not in a problematic way. Like zero sweetness to it. Anti pastry porter.

a very well made beer, good porter, but its in a lot of ways kind of unremarkable, not bland or anything necessarily, but it is lacking a certain something for me, drinkable as it is, i look for a little more in this style right now, and while i appreciate it, its not one of their beers i am in a hurry to go back for. its a little lighter than many, with an obvious chocolate malt brown ale complexion to it, and a very easy texture, its even a touch thin for what it is, certainly compared to some other notable examples of the style, but i like the balance and the mellowness of it, even if i also kind of wish for a more robust roasted dark side to it as well. a little sweet, but i think that has its appeal too. this is definitely a four season porter, maybe not quite bold enough for the deepest of winters, but its nice to have one like this that is so versatile and drinks around the calendar as well as it does. its hard to get excited about in some ways, but good porter like this is pretty timeless...

On tap at the brewery. Black with a fine tan head. Lots of chocolate and hops in the aroma. Sweet and roasty with caramel and some cocoa, balanced nicely with pretty ample piney hops. Medium bodied, with a creamy texture. A tasty roasty and hoppy porter, not unlike a hoppy foreign stout. Pretty bitter and hoppy, but the sweetness and lack of roasted astringency save the flavors from clashing.

Appearance: Darker than black coffee, completely opaque and thick. Looks more like a stout than a porter to the naked eye.

Smell: Roasty notes, nothing out of the ordinary.

Taste: Zowy! A pretty much equal mix of chocolate, coffee and caramel. Blends together superbly.

Mouthfeel: One of the nicest drinking beers I've had in some time. Smoother than silk.

My first beer from 50/50 and an impressive one at that.
