Pours beautiful. Nice creamed coffee color head that stays around for a good while before dissipating to a nice sticky lace. Initial smell and you can really pick up the aromas that the quality of the Elijah Craig barrel gives. At first glance it appears as it would be thicker on the mouthful than it is but that said, the non-syrupy feel actually works perfectly with the quality of the bourbon as it allows the flavors to come through without the viscosity getting in the way. There's a great balance between the slight sweetness of a barrel aged stout and the dark, toasty flavors of dark chocolate, coffee and oak tannins from the barrel. Very smooth. Overall this is very well done and worthy of the praise they receive. Definitely worth the price to try at least once.

22oz bottle.

color:black

head: thin, light brown, fading fast

nose: bourbon, oak, vanilla

taste: initial sweetness, bourbon, vanilla, hint of berries, fading into chocolate which remains in a mild bitter finish.

I like this beer, but I can't say it lives up to its price point.

Uber sweetness takes over in the taste profile, it's hard to get past the sugars here. Bourbon taste is heavy- really good BA brew here - only knock on this is the price point.
