2013 vintage poured into a snifter.
Pours near jet black with very minimal dark caramel colored head.
Aromas are a lot of roasted coffee, roasted malt and light levels of bourbon.
Flavors are really nice and the bourbon isn't terribly prominent. Nicely balanced with chocolate, coffee, bourbon.
Mouthfeel was good but Id like a touch thicker here.
Overall, delicious beer. Way too expensive for what it is though.

This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a dark lush brown close to black color. Light film of a head appears and sticks and then slides down into the beer. The smell starts off with a dry coffee bean to dry cocoa bean, somewhat roasty, somewhat sweet. Some honey does come out as it warms. The taste was moderately sweet with a light sticky cocoa aftertaste and mildly sweet to roasty sticky finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body (guessing that’s because of the age, not sure where my roommate kept this). Carbonation is subdued, once again, I’m guessing due to the age. Somewhat sticky but not cloying. Overall, for a Double/Imperial Stout, awesome. Definitely would have again.

2013 bottle. Among the best ever coffee stout bombs that I have ever had. I was skeptical because it is aged in oak barrels, but very little oak on my palate. Very mild bitter taste, which I was not offended by.

Beer review #2800, might as well make a gem of a beer part of this.

This beer has went through some relatively minor tweakings over the years. Different barrels, different (albeit substantially similar, just bigger) base. Different coffee? I don't know. But damn if that Myra girl from the coffee place in Reno isn't the finest thing I've ever come across, something about that name too, there's a beautiful one I work with as well.

Anyways, great mixture of bourbon, coffee, oak, roast going on here. I have to admit, there is quite a bit of variety in the bottles. Sometimes its like there is almost no coffee at all. Sometimes its the greatest coffee beer of all time. Its never bad, just the coffee is hit or miss is what I'm saying. Just the right amount of carbonation and body.

Expensive though.

2013 vintage. Poured a deep brownish black. Tons of carbonation even with sitting for a bit. Wow, nose right off the bat is impressive. Tons of bourbon, coffee, chocolate and earth. Really surprised by the aroma considering the age on bottle. Taste is right in line with aroma, honey on the finish. Mouthfeel is the only down I have, very much on the thin side. Overall really impressed with this offering and how well the coffee and bourbon held.

Appearance- The beer was jet black with a mocha colored head.

Smell - There was a nice coffee nose that betrayed a certain level of sweetness.

Taste - Chocolate, honey, and dark coffee were all in the mix. The chocolate is slightly bitter, but so good.

Mouthfeel- The beer was smooth with an almost creamy milk stout texture.

Overall- Its not my favorite Eclipse stout, but it is very solid.

I find the Eclipse lineup to be perennially mediocre, and this was no exception. Pours out thin and pretty see-through. Smell is very muted. I almost smelled nothing. Had to bring the nose almost into the beer. I picked up some very bitter coffee. Not much else. Taste was like a thin stout, mixed with a cheap cup of coffee. Very bitter coffee finish. It got a bit better as it warmed, but it was nothing special.

Sweet chocolate sweet bourbon oak dark chocolate. Same look and thick body.

Overall I liked this one quite a bit; obviously the most coffee and light bourbon.

22 oz. bottle - Vintage 2016

Pours pitch black with a dense creamy brown foam head. Smells like roasted coffee, dark chocolate, honey, with some oak barrel and mild hop notes. Tastes like huge roasted coffee, dark chocolatey malts, some honey, with oak barrel and mild hop notes. Feels medium bodied, creamy with moderate low carbonation. Overall a really nice barrel aged imperial coffee stout.
